[OOM: " Bumblebee, there's something I have to tell you...The elevator doors slide open, cunningly concealed paneling parting to a sound best described as the THX sound played in reverse. For what it's worth, some people do the same thing by not thinking about what ever's bugging them. And usually, a distraction like work or a project helps.

In tonight's case, Tyler's had that stupid dream again, and is swinging from the rafters practicing until he's going to be too worn out to have that dream. Thus it comes to the boy swinging and hanging upside down from one rafter to watch the 'bot for a moment. "Hey 'Bee."

"War happened...and ruined everything for everyone?"

"War happened," Bumblebee confirmed. "But what Megatron wanted wasn't only Cybertron. He wanted the Allspark- he wanted total control over all life, the power of life and death itself. He was willing to sacrifice everything to get it, so that he could turn it to building himself a slave army to conquer every world in the galaxy. Maybe more, if he could manage it- it wasn't as if he was planning to die, after all."

"...I know you guys don't have the parts for it...but I really hoped someone kicked him in the nuts for that."

"A lot of times."

It's a crying shame that only Walter Peck has gotten that lovely little 'prize' of being Peter Venkman's source of entertainment.

So far.

If Bumblebee had a mouth, he might almost give a bitter little smile at that ( ... )

...So many levels of not-good.

"...why do I think they didn't leave him alone in the ice?" Like a good SANE person might've done?

"They didn't leave him alone in the ice," Bumblebee confirms. "They kept him frozen, to keep him from coming out of whatever had locked him down- but they took him south, to a new, secretly constructed facility in Nevada, hidden under the Hoover Dam. Which had been built on that site because they couldn't move what they were really hiding- the Allspark."

"They kept Megatron frozen, and they studied him as much as they could. In my world, every human advance in electronics and computers and automobiles since the 1930s is at least partially based on what humanity learned from experimenting on Megatron."

...Tyler's just going to get a very disgusted look right now. Because it seems from his point of view, grownups get a LOT of things wrong.

"When did things go worse?"

Not wrong, worse.

"Two years ago," Bumblebee says. "Late May of 2007. I had reached Earth three years before that, and I'd searched the planet for signs of the Allspark myself. Most of us went into space to try to find it, since without it there could be no future life on Cybertron- and we didn't want Megatron to actually find it, wherever it had gone, of course. But I finally found the trail, in the form of stories about a gigantic iceman found by a ship-captain named Witwicky. His great-grandson had some of his possessions, one of which was able to lead us to the Allspark's hiding place... all of us, including the Decepticons. And while we managed to get the Cube out of there, the Decepticons were able to reactivate Megatron."

Bumblebee nods. "There were five of us on Earth," he says, "and we had a few men and a few planes from the American army... but the battle was ugly, on both sides. In the end, the Decepticons on Earth were killed or driven off-planet. But Megatron met his end when Sam Witwicky turned the Allspark's energies on him. Megatron died... and the Allspark was destroyed."

...No wonder Optimus looked like he'd been given the best gift ever the first time Cubefall came to Milliways.

Tyler just stares up with wide-eyed...not quite wonder...it's a somber expression, to have to pay that kind of price to get rid of that kind of evil....

"My job when I first came to Earth was to find the Allspark," Bumblebee says. "When I learned that the way to find the Allspark was through Sam Witwicky, my job became protecting Sam Witwicky. When he killed Megatron and Starscream escaped into space, my job became to look after him against the day when the surviving Decepticons returned from space looking for revenge. And now Sam is going to college on the other side of the United States, and he can't bring a car with him; I have to stay with the other Autobots and watch the skies, and hope that if Starscream returns, we have enough warning for me to reach Sam in time. Sam killed the Decepticons' leader and destroyed their hope of a future. They will want him dead first, before they even look at us twice."

"Does he ...he even know how to hide the right way? In plain sight? Or how not to leave trails?"

Does he know how to defend himself? A moot point when it comes to squishy organic versus giant metal robot, but even a little could help!
