Momiji can read rabbits!

He also has an abiding love of comfy couches, especially when he needs a place to flop down at and nibble the cookies he's having for dessert. Spotting a couch with a rabbit on it is just an added bonus!

And, so, Castiel has company in the form of a bright-eyed, blond boy.

"Hi, bunny!" he chirps, leaning towards the furry thing with a bright smile. Even if it's probably not usually a bunny, that seems like a fine sort of greeting to him.

Castiel has sacrificed the ability to speak as he normally would here for the duration of this experiment.

But he does lift his head and emit a friendly grunt to the boy.

Hopefully the greeting translates.

Is it just Verity, or does this place seem to be even more eccentric than usual?

And who left the rodent lying around?

Castiel's nature may have taken on some distinctive rabbit-like qualities (like the compulsion to spring straight up into the air when happy).

But old habits and senses haven't gone anywhere.

His ears pitch toward a familiar presence. Then lay flat back against his head.

The sprawl has turned to high alert status.

And one back foot involuntarily drums against the sofa cushion.

Danger is present.

Oh, look. It moves.

If it's not careful, it's going to lose that foot. And that wouldn't exactly be lucky, now, would it?

"Shoo."

Who knew that rabbits growl?

They do. Very impressively.

Castiel's ears have practically disappeared against his back, and his head is thrust forward.

Rabbit or no rabbit, he is not backing down before the Spawn of Perdition.
