It's been a long week with all the family drama flying around, so Mary Anne is taking it easy tonight.

She's got a comfortable booth, a cold beer and a good book, but she probably wouldn't say no if you wanted to chat.

ruin, mary anne bell

He leans over the back of the booth, reading over her shoulder.

"You know, you keep showing up in the spreads. Something you know I don't?"

Which is an idiotic question since, no, there wasn't.

Except, perhaps, her own insight.

(Oh don’t take from me what I am slowly learning--)

She marks her place with one finger.

"What can I say, I'm a popular girl."

"Oh, that you are."

He nuzzles her throat.

"What are you reading?"

She hums.

"Poetry. Rilke."

'Requiem for a Friend', as it happens.

It fits her mood.

"And how are you? Started any trouble lately?"

Settled in--that's the best way to catch people for surveys. Generally a little off-guard, and sometimes more willing to talk.

So one mutant, arm in a sling, clipboard in hand, approaches the booth. "Would you be interested in a quick survey?"

Mary Anne looks up, blinking.

She's been asked a lot of questions in Milliways, but this is definitely a first.

"Sure thing," she says, setting down her book and sitting up a little straighter.

"Excellent," he says with a grin, setting the clipboard down on the edge of the table and unclipping the pen. "First, for demographic purposes--where and when are you from? That includes whether there's magic or aliens or other non-mundane things in your world, even if that's kind of subjective."

She thinks for a moment.

"As of now, Greece, circa 2009, and there's nothing terribly non-mundane on my world except for me."

Demeter doesn't know Mary Anne, she's just walking thoughtfully with a glass of wine and gives a nod to her,

"Good evening."

(OOC: I realized they've never met and had to fix it.)

[ooc: so glad you did!]

Mary Anne looks up, smiling.

"Good evening to you."

"I'm Demeter and I don't think we've met."

"Haven't had the pleasure, no."

She holds out a hand. "I'm Mary Anne Bell."
