[OOC: Part of the Duet for Claws and Swords plot.]

Moon is still in her tree.

It's become a comfortable place, really. She doesn't have to eat. She doesn't have to drink. She doesn't have to sleep. She can just sit in the quiet, occasionally dealing with family or the wolves.

She has grown fond of her tree.

Moon, it seems, has no intention of ( Read more... )

There is movement in one tree among the many that accompany the Moon's tree. Movement, as something leaps lightly from one branch to the other, and two bright green eyes watching the lady among the branches.

Her own eyes are oddly bright as they lift and find him.

"Hello little cat." Moon smiles, tilting her head. "But not a cat. Not really. Don't come to 'here kitty, kitty', do you? No. You are bright. Bright and pretty and Star would like you."

The not'cat drops lightly from its bough onto one of the longer branches of Moon's tree, up and to her right. The bough bends slightly under its sudden, though light, weight.

"I am bright, indeed," he says, tilting his head in mirror of her movement as he pads gingerly along the branch. "One of the Nine that carry that title. And you? A lonely dryad with leaf-green eyes?"

Moon giggles, though it is quiet, nothing like her usual laughter.

"Dryad? Oh, no. They are pretty and speak to the trees and the tree speak back. I talk to the trees, but they don't talk to me. I am Moon."

As if that was explanation enough.

She's drawn there by the light she knows second to her own, among other things. Trailing slowly through the forest, the cape of the forest floor undisturbed by her feet or the swish of the long white skirt as it passes half an inch over.

Star doesn't look up until she's actually made the bottom of the tree, but when she does there's a faint smile plucking at her lips as her gaze go to the only place it could be drawn here.

Moon peers down, still huddled in the V of her tree.

"Bright sister, you've come to find me?"

There's a lingering moment, or is it minutes, before Star's fingers reach out to trace a line on the tree bark.

Her eyes are bright, warm but there's a level of absent inquisitiveness after her first statement. "I missed your company. You've been here a while."

"Hiding."

She looks up at the branches.

"Safe here. Can't break the rules. Can't overstep. Can't be tempted."

"You cannot stay there forever."

Dark woman flanked by two bright lions.

"They will need you soon."

Moon shakes her head, a quiet noise in the back of her throat.

"Want to interfere. Can't interfere. Rules. Chains. No lock pick."

She peers over her knees at Strength.

"The path will devour them."

"The game is afoot, and you are kept on the sidelines, waiting for your turn."

She tries, but imitating her sister's thought patterns isn't easy.

"Not all of them. And what is, will only seem consumed."

Moon stares down at Strength for a long, long time before she speaks again.

"I wanted to stop him."

She'd never wanted to stop a card, prevent their duty.

[OOC: There is a plot post in Moon's journal regarding Duet if you'd like to take a peek. I missed adding Strength to the filter!]

"The Moon, in the branches of a tree," Tower says, as he passes it on his walk around the lake. "How very poetic!"

Beat.

"Evening, my dear sister!"

Moon peers over her skirt-covered knees at Tower.

"I am poetry personified," she reminds him. "Hello, brother-mine. Have you, too, come to try and tempt me from the safety of my tree?"

"And destroy the poetry of it?" Tower says. "Oh no. Silly people!"

Tower was a tricky one.

But he was like her.

He Awoke.

He hadn't been Made.

"I don't know what to do," she whispers.
