Habits are funny things. Take, for example, accents. It took Angela the better part of her first two years of college and a lot of work to lose hers, and right around the forty-eighth hour she spends at home, back it comes. "How is Texas?" Brennan asks, sliding into the chair opposite with a cup of coffee.

She is careful not to nudge or bump the table in any way. She's known Angela long enough to know that watercolors can be unpredictable.
