But Tower is, indeed, Tower, and eyes the box with great pleasure.

Mia happens to see him when she glances up from the magazine.

"Ah, Tower! I have your strawberry tarts finished up here," she says, gently patting the box. "Only as old as it took me to clean myself up."

They look a little more like strawberry danishes, like the tarts from her home, the crusts big, delectable ovals with a generous scoop of filling in each and topped with half a strawberry and a sweet drizzle of cream cheese icing.

"Mama made the preserves for the filling and my friend Coreen helped in making them."

"Oh thank you," Tower says, and eats one, slowly and with the greatest appreciation man can muster, short of sexual ecstasy.

"So you approve?" she asks.
