Demonic rabbits on the loose!

Apr 23, 2009 19:23

Teja had some very bad news the other day: - of all the people from his world, the bar had brought his arch-enemy! He had not seen Cethegus himself, yet; but Yrael had told him of the encounter, and Teja was making plans. Whom should he alert, how should he make ready, what meddling was to be expected from the man? Charlie. He had to tell Charlie, ( Read more... )

There is a not'cat on the back of the couch, sniffing the air.

"Greetings, Teja."

"Greetings, Yrael!" Teja says. "I am still pondering your knew from the other night: - have you seen him again, since?"

"I have not," he says, shaking his head.

"Why does it smell of demonic rabbits here?"

The not'cat's ears may twitch at the sound of something shifting under the couch.

"The cats brought one or two dead ones, to give to me," Teja says. "One would assume they meant to cheer me up, as cats sometimes do."

One of the rabbits catches Felix's attention. He leaps up and gives chase. He considers drawing his sword, but realizes that there are enough people here that someone would likely get hurt. Also, there may be an opportunity to pick up something better suited to rabbit-hunting. Better, in either case, to wait until it's cornered or outdoors.

The rabbit cowers under a chair, contemplating counter-attack.

Under a chair is, arguably, at least a little cornered. As Felix draws his sword, he reflects that it is also a little awkward to get to. He stabs at the rabbit, but probably doesn't connect.

No, he doesn't.

The rabbit hops back a step, and snarls.

In the bar, Ed is eating vegetable pizza for lunch, while Ein chows down on a steak. Without warning, Ein looks up from his bowl, sniffing, his ears perked forward. His ears then go flat back, his hackles rise and he starts growling.

Ed, although she does not have an overabundance of common sense, knows that it takes a lot to distract a dog from his food - so she takes notice. "Mwuh? Ein?" She follows Ein's gaze to a small black shape with glowing red eyes, lurking under a table some distance away.

"Bark!" Ein says as he dashes after the demon rabbit.

"Eiiiiiiiin!" Ed calls, abandoning her partially eaten pizza to chase after the dog - over, under, through and occasionally around any obstacles that come up in her way.

The demon rabbit yelps, hops up, and dashes away when it sees the dog.

"I don't want to know why there's a very strangely-colored rabbit underneath the coffee table, do I?" Charlie asks, avoiding what he suspects is not a dead thing but rather a live one.

He'd rather not scare it if that's at all possible. Rabbits can scratch something awful if they're upset.

"My Charlie!" Teja says. "It is good to see you!"

Pause.

"The cats brought them, to cheer me up, as I had some truly bad news the other day. They are dead."

"I don't think they are...one of them's moving." Slowly, yes, and as of right this moment it's only sort of shuffling, and moving its whiskers.

But it is moving.

"What bad news did you have?" He hasn't heard about it, though that might be because he hasn't been in the bar as much in the last few weeks.

"Dead rabbits cannot move," Teja says, peering at it.

Demonic rabbits are nasty, ugly creatures. "Perhaps it is still twitching? I might have to put it out of its misery if it moves again."

Pause, while he takes Charlie's hand. "A great enemy from my world has come here -- Cethegus, whom they called the last of the Romans! He died killing me, and the other way around. Yrael has seen him."

Rat can move like lightning if they need to and Gil has been startled to find the entire contingent of wait rats streaking through the kitchen and into his room through the faun flap.

Which they then barricaded.

So someone was messing with his staff were they? Gil ties his pinny a little more firmly and stalks out into the bar on human legs today.

"What's going on?" he ask the nearest person.

"Dunno," the nearest person says.

Under the table, there is a demon bunny, peering up at the faun, as if considering flight or fight.

"Well why have all the rats ...?" Gil sniffs. Even as a human he can smell that faint, slightly oily odour. And having once been to hell and, through no fault of his own, been soundly snogged by Be'elzebub that's a scent he recognises.

Gil's face goes white and he jumps onto a chair.

Fight!

The demon bunny comes hopping out in a slow, menacing way, and snarls.
