Fakir is slowly circumnavigating the bar, running his hands over the wood paneling on the walls. Perhaps there's a catch somewhere, and if he finds it, the door will open ( Read more... )

"It's a lovely place, isn't it?" Iris asks from a nearby table, watching him during his explorations.

Fakir pivots, staring at Iris with an incredulous scowl. "It's a prison with attack rabbits. What are you talking about?"

"Oh, the demon rabbits? You just learn to avoid them." Or fly out of harms way, in her case. "Milliways. It's quite lovely. I really do need to come back more often," she muses, looking around the room before turning her attention back to Fakir.

Fakir's glance around the room is considerably less approving. "Maybe next time it'll trap you instead."

He watches this with some interest, eyebrows rised in mild surprise.

"Looking for something?"

Fakir turns his head, but his hands are still tracing the walls. "The door. It has to be here somewhere."

Gabriel blinks.

"That door, I presume?" He indicates the perfectly normal-seeming front door, easily visible from his seat.

"Or some other door of which I'm unaware?"

Fakir looks from Gabriel's pointing finger to the patch of perfectly ordinary paneling. "Keep pointing at it." If Fakir knew that he's ordering around a senator high in the government of an area billions of billions (of billions?) of kilometers larger than Gold Crown Town, he ... might not be any more polite than he is now.

Well, at least the new boy isn't beating his fists against the wall anymore.

Andrew's only half paying attention, from his seat by the fireplace.

When he reaches the bulletin board, not too far from Andrew, Fakir mutters, "If she really wanted a barre, she would have found it. Idiot."

"We're in a bar," Andrew points out, not looking up from the book he's reading (Dream Park, Larry Niven and Steven Barnes).

Fakir doesn't even realize that Andrew's talking to him.

Andrew heard Fakir's sentence in English, and answered him in that language. However, Fakir is speaking German, and what he heard of Andrew's answer was also in German. The pun has sadly gotten lost in translation.
