Multipup post because I've been MIA for a while.

In a rare moment of whim, Lexaeus is downstairs. He has a plate of roast in front of him, a beer next to his gloved hand, and his eye scanning the bar. It's obvious that he's considering something, though what is hard to say.

Carlos, on the other hand, is at the bar itself and he's very much not looking out. Perhaps he's here because he feels ( Read more... )

"Greetings, Lexaeus," Teja says, walking over to speak to the tall Nobody, when he sees him.

He has not seen any of them for a while, and has been wondering.

Lexaeus nodded his head in reply, though his eyes continued their search.

"Teja," he finally said.

"How do you fare?"

"I fare well," Teja says, with a small note of surprise in his voice. He does not expect to.

Pause.

"I have not seen any of you for a long while; so I would rather ask you how you fare?"

"As always," and there's something that probably only one of the first Six would recognize as a smile. After all, they didn't really change, did they? They couldn't.

Except to fade.

"What's that stuff?"

Garion might just have a familiar small someone peering over his shoulder at the papers.

"It doesn't look like the paperwork you usually have to read and sign."

He shook his head and gave Tyler a smile.

"And hello to you too," he said.

"It's... estimates. And figures. And the first sketches of something I'm planning on doing at home."

"I haven't seen you in the Bar in a long time."

He'll get a hug from Tyler before the kid scoots into the seat across from him.

"Is it going to be that canal work Ray was talking about?"

Garion hugged him back, smiling at the boy and pushing things aside to make room.

"Not a canal," he said with a shake of his head, "a tunnel. From Riva to the mainland. Too many things have gone wrong and we've been blind to it because of bad weather. There's a few other things, but we're thinking that it would solve quite a few problems all at once.

"If we can do it."

He leaned on one arm and ordered a burger and milkshake from a passing rat.

"And it's been a while for me as well. A few years, in fact."

One of Billy's chief character flaws is that he is unable to mind his own business. Thus, he's attempting to catch sight of the drawings over Garion's shoulder.

Garion didn't look up.

"You can sit if you like."

He didn't know who it is. He didn't particularly mind either way. Unless it was Zakath and then it didn't matter anyway since Zakath never remembered this place once he'd left.

...Billy hesitates half a moment.

"What are you working on?"

"Figuring out how to make a very very long tunnel underwater."

He still didn't look up.

"You're welcome some of the paradoxes in the basket," he offered.

Zexion doesn't say anything as he slides into the seat across from Lexaeus. Hes got food with him, too. Just soup, but he hasn't felt able to keep much down these last few days while logically knowing he should make the attempt.

"...What are you thinking about?" he finally asks when he has the nerve to break the silence.

"Prospects. Or rather, the lack of them."

Zexion looks down at his soup, idly moving the spoon around in it without eating. "Just because something hasn't made itself apparent yet doesn't mean it will stay that way. All research has dry spots."

"Of course. But at the moment, there is little progress."
