What? Everyone has their own particular traditions.
It's the kind of low table that Mal recognizes, though, and the style of tea preparation alongside. "Mind if I sit?" Mal noses in as politely as possible, already trying to gather his coat to sit in seiza.

With percission she steeps the tea, never once droping any water on said low table, before raising it to study the delicate jade cup etched with running foxes. She hoped the monks at the shrine would not mind her barrowing them for the evening. Then just like in any tea ceremony she sat the cup down closer to Mal giving it a slight turn along with a bow.

Bright blue eyes glanced up at the man sitting across from her before a soft chuckle manages to bubble up. "Please do make yourself comfortable. While ceremony may be key in some places, I find that certain liberties must be taken every now and then." Which is why her wooden sandles are off and not to far away. "It has been...a very long yet short time for myself as well. Strange that. One could say it has been, oh, two years in theory."
