Multi-Pup Post

Sam, post-party, is lounging on a sofa by the fire. He'd been vaguely smart for the party - no tie of course, but a nice red shirt - but there are one or two buttons missing from the bottom now and he looks entirely relaxed.

He's mildly tipsy - he drank a lot of rum, plus one or two Atlanteans - but functionally so, and is currently amusing ( Read more... )

The company that does approach has also read Hogwarts: A History, but isn't really about to say so. At least Minerva's feet will be warm?

O hay, a kitty.

Minerva remembers the not'cat.

"Hello," she says, setting her book aside to look down at it and tickle its ears with the tips of her fingers.

"You know, you're singularly difficult to pet while you're down there. Lap?"

"Prrt," it says because being difficult is half the point, pushing its head up against her fingers. On its own time, however, it does decide to leap up onto the couch beside her to curl up on her lap.

"You drive a hard bargain," and the not'cat is an easily-bought attention whore.

Minerva rolls her eyes.

Amusedly, "Imagine the nerve of me, offering up my lap so that you can have attention paid to you. I don't know how I do it."

Cal has a glass of iced tea!

Just kidding. It's a mug of coffee. Definitely not iced. It might have a little less sugar than usual, but no one can tell that just from looking at it. (Actually, Cal can't tell, either. The Bar is crafty like that.)

He brings his non-iced untea over and takes a seat next to Sam by the fire.

"Hi," he says, looking at the cat's cradle.

Sam looks up with a grin.

"Hey, Cal."

"How you doing?" Cal asks. He's still watching the cat's cradle. It looks cool.

It also looks kind of like someone couldn't be bothered to find some string, but who's counting? Not Cal.

Pfft. Magic is far prettier than string.

"I'm all right," Sam says easily, although he does notice that Cal's not looking at him. "Bored, though. Y'okay?"

"You look tired," Victor remarks, mildly, as he sits down next to Molly. "Thought about getting some sleep?"

"Hi Vic!"

Molly is totally not sleepy. That's why she didn't just yawn.

"'m not that tired. I went to the party!"

"Might've been what tired you out," Victor notes, amusedly.

"But, but it was a party for Atton! And there were s'mores! I had to go."

Molly's logic is better than your logic, Victor.

"Saaaam."

Guppy leans over the sofa, grins at him, then flops on top of him.

"I had rum."

Oh well, Sam didn't really want that cat's cradle anyway. Guppy is just lucky he wasn't playing with the exploding version.

He grins down at him. "So I can tell."

"I think I like rum. S'bit strong."

"It is, a bit," Sam agrees, sliding an arm around Guppy. "I had a lot, too."

"Hello," X says.

Maybe she was drawn by the unfamiliar scent of butterbeer. Or--other unfamiliar scents.

She was careful, at least, not to approach Minerva from behind.

Someone here is learning.

The other girl looks up at her over small square glasses.

"Hello."

She puts the book aside, because Minerva was brought up to be courteous and well-mannered.

"I'm Minerva."

"I am X-23," is the prompt response.

And then--

"You can call me Laura."

Minerva head-tilts a little.

"X-23 is an odd title," she observes.
