"I've been hearing some interesting things about adapting house electrical wiring to handle telephone signals without having to install an additional cable," says Whistler. "Sounds like the kind of thing I could have a lot of fun with, if it actually works."

"Maybe. It depends on how reliable it is. If we have to rewire the whole place just to get something that comes through clearly, it might be more trouble than it's worth."
