April grins a little. "In real life, definitely. Of course, if this was a movie or a book, it'd be a total cop-out 'happy ending', but real life is so not fiction."
"Oh, I dunno. I had a friend here once who had a really interesting theory that what's real in one universe might be someone else's fiction in another."

"Gas mask?" he asks the stranger, when most of the others that would speak to him are gone. It is a word he has heard, and remembers very well.
"That would not be about the little brother of a young girl called Nancy?"
