The narration needed a distraction from the stupid, so Eduard's around! He's practicing sleight of hand tricks with a small red ball at a table.

There's that lemonade to one side too. (Yes, with ice. He's not getting over that.)

Dinah knows a little slight of hand- not a lot, but a polite man in the bar taught her some coin tricks once, and she's very good at physical learning. She also practises hard.

She has a Frappuccino in one hand and a burrito in another as she stands in the middle of the bar. She had been looking for a place to sit, but now she's watching the ball, slurping on her straw.

"That's what my Mom says," Dinah says. "That's why she didn't want me in the business."

About the real question - the prevalence of crimefighters, she offers a shrug. "I think... some people things just happen to, y'know? I'd say Destiny, but I don't think I believe in that, but there's so much weird stuff that happens to my Uncles when they're not on the job. Sometimes it's more than just coincidence."

She lives in a world ruled by narrative causality. It leads to explaining things away.

"So they don't want to be the people things happen to, anymore. It's better to do something."

Eduard's more working something out in his own mind than actually trying to offer an opinion.

"Pressburg is the opposite. Everything is very quiet, even though it is a city."

"Wow," says Dinah, with the wistfulness of someone who's heard of that kind of place, but didn't think they really existed.

"What country is it in?"

"Austria."

Slovakia most likely, in Dinah's world.

"If you've heard of it, the other name for the city is Bratislava. My part of the city uses Pressburg." After a second, "Usually if there are any problems in my neighborhood, it's about that."

A bit like Gotham and Bludhaven," Dinah says, then shakes her head.

"Except Gotham has enough problems of its own, even without the masked villains."

"The only masks in Austria are usually on magicians."

It's a topic shift, but an ignorable one.

"Like you?" she guesses. "Or like you want to be?"

"I want to learn illusions. I don't even know if I'll ever do them onstage."

A quick smile, "Which would be okay. I like cabinetmaking."

Especially hidden drawers and caches in cabinets.

Dinah's quiet for a second, smirking knowingly.

Then, she offers an explanation for her amusement, "I used to say I just wanted to know how to defend myself. I like helping Mom i her flowershop, but I don't think I could ever not fight. Not anymore."

"I will never get anywhere if I can't palm a ball without dropping one," Eduard returns with a grimace.

"That's the other way i'm not magickal -- I can't predict the future."
