Penny slipped in through the door, a dog at her heels. It had...been a while. Her steps held a new hesitance as she secured a chair, and her black bandages were replaced by something darker, thicker...and more structured. A coat, done body suit style. IT even had gloves, to cover her claws...and that was what she was still working through really ( Read more... )

That statement makes perfect sense to Annabelle.

"I'm one of them, I'm afraid. I never did manage to convince most of the medical people I dealt with of that."

"I am very bad with medlabs." she admitted "And to. They did not hold me long." she as good with understatement.

"No you don't have to worry about that though?" she offered "Unless you get hurt? Do you hurt?"

"They only tried to physically restrain me once. I still think he was lucky to only end up with a broken nose."

"I get hurt as readily as any other human if I don't dodge," Annabelle admits. She suspects that Penny doesn't. "I'm not injured right now though."

"I am worse with restraints." she shivered a second, pupil-less gaze unfocused and far away "Yes, a broken nose is...light."

That said, she shook herself out of her reverie to refocus on the woman before her "It is strange a dead woman can still get hurt..but you are solid, so I can understand that you could break..." she mused, sliding back towards cheerful.

"I'm sorry that I brought up bad memories," Annabelle says quietly.

"I don't suppose my condition is any stranger in the grand scheme of things than a bar at the end of the universe."

"You did not know, so it is okay. I just have a lot of bad memories to remember..." she was the forgiving sort, especially when things were not done on purpose!

"No...dead is not that strange. You may not even stay dead! Worlds are strange like that!"

"People come back from the dead in your world?" Annabelle asks with a look of surprise. She's unaware of the revolving door kind of death that is present in certain universes.

"Yes!" she laughed in a shiver of shaking chimes "One woman on the adult team has come back many...many times. It is stranger to stay dead I think..."

Annabelle shakes her head, "I can imagine that it would seem strange to you if you've known someone who has come back from the dead so many times. So far as I know, no one in my world has ever come back from the dead."

"It is not always strange...just a different way. I am sure staying dead can be peaceful. Spoon has told me about heaven." she supplied easily. She wasn't so much a religious girl, but then, she hadn't been exposed to it for long.

"I do not know what happens with dead people though. Maybe like the doors, anything is possible?"

"I rather like the idea that anything is possible," says Annabelle with a smile.

"I know that the dead can visit other patron's worlds for a time. If someone else opens the door."

"That is like me, I can go home to the farm if one of the puppies opens the door." she smiled.

"The puppies are from your new home world?"

"I haven't tried to open the door myself. I'm not ready to go..wherever it is the dead normally go, and I don't want to chance it."

"Yes, there are many dogs on the farm. They help with the goats. And in general. And maybe we grow dogs too?" she mused, thinking it over.

"I do not know where my door goes; I did not recognize it. I think a lot of people just aren't ready for theirs...so it's perfectly okay to stay!"

"It's odd that you didn't recognize where your door went. I'm told that it generally returns people to the point they arrived from."

"Would your dog mind if I offered to pet him? I was around animals when I was growing up, but I never had any of my own."
