The Russian astronaut is feeling mildly lazy today, which is why she's down in the bar instead of upstairs with the flight-sims. Leisurely breakfast, washed down by coffee and Bar had been kind enough to provide a newspaper

"Hi." Charlie is not far off, enjoying a bowl of berries and melon for breakfast.

"We do look to the stars. We've been to Mars and Venus, and have a few space stations, including some privately held ones. But for the most part, since we've dealt with aliens so often, we don't have a choice. If there weren't the aliens, we might be another of the worlds you are talking about."

Softly, "Clavis Base, American, was built on Moon in 1994. In my world."

"Ahead of us by a couple of years." He pauses. "I'm sorry you didn't get to be there."

[aimedforthemoon]

"I would be in my late fifties. Too old to go adventuring. But, they, uh. Named a ship after me. Which is nice."

He smiles. "I think that is a very big honor. Being remembered that way...

"I don't know if anyone will really remember me."

[aimedforthemoon]

"Would you want them to?" She asks, the question genuine.

[52_dropoff]

"I do, yes. At least for training the next Question. Or for my works all those years back as a reporter.

"But I never did either the hero stuff or the reporting for the fame." A pause. "Well, not since I got properly trained as a hero. Before that...I was an ego."

Esfir nods, eyes narrowed slightly in thought.

"A penny for your thoughts? Or would it be a ruble?"

[aimedforthemoon]

"I can't sort them out for myself, let alone someone else."

"Ah." He ponders this and moves on. "And how is your own adventure going?"

[aimedforthemoon]

Instant grin.

"Wonderfully. The A-wing, it is a lot of work, but, oh, she is a beautiful thing to fly."

"And the impossibility of the math doesn't bother you any longer?"

[aimedforthemoon]

"I worked it out to my satisfaction."

"And the mission itself? What are you doing, beyond flying?"
