[ooc: Slowtime warning in effect! Will be back for tags later tonight.]

If you've ever worked with Max, you'd know that he is absolutely brilliant. He can speak seven languages (English not included) fluently and he can translate a handful of others. He knows everything there is to know about politics and foreign affairs, kicks ass at trivia, and ( Read more... )

A couple people Bart knows have hung out in the rafters before, so it's possible he glances up there every so often to see if they're there.

He wasn't expecting Maxwell Smart to be up there.

...Heh.

Upwards grin. "Hey."

"Hi."

Max is the picture of calm collectedness, yep.

"What's up? - don't say me."

"That's taking all the fun out of it."

"It's not even that clever! It's like asking someone what's up and they say the clouds or something. Duh. Way to point out the obvious."

The next rafter over is occupied by a green boy, aged 10, in a sort of futuristic military jumpsuit and boots, and apparently using the rafter as a balance beam on which to practice a... fencing stance? No sword, but he's shuffling back and forth with his arms up in third position.

Uh... huh.

Yeah.

Max isn't about to try to stand up anytime soon, so he'll just watch and look vaguely impressed, okay?

Advance retreat advance advance and lunge...

No, of course Enzo isn't a show-off in the least.

Max is not rolling his eyes.

Really!

You're just seeing things!

Bumblebee's in a better mood now than he was earlier. Composing a letter of condolence with Lissar's help went a long way. He was just about to head back into the rafters himself, as it happens, which is why he manages to spot Max as he surveys his usual access points.

He'll just wave to the startled-looking human, mm'kay?

... well, that's certainly new.

Please excuse Max for staring.

He gets that a lot.

"Hi there!" he chirrups brightly. (In Peter Gabriel's prerecorded voice, but really, who's counting?) "Are you all right?"

"I'm fine," he says, blinking.

AWESOME.

Cal knows that look. He might still be up in the rafters if he hadn't had to live up to the standards set by a certain ten-year-old.

He grins and calls up, "All you can do is jump!"

"We could toss you bits of food," Cal suggests, still grinning. Not that he doesn't have a certain measure of sympathy, but - it's funny! Possibly funnier than if he didn't sympathize. The human mind can be strange like that.

Schadenfreude is a great thing, really.

Max does not look amused at this idea, though.

Max looks over.

What he really needs is a ladder.

"No. I'm fine."

Oh, that's charming.

"I'm enjoying the view," he mutters.

Enjoying the view apparently involves holding the beam so tight your knuckles turn white!
