First entrance.

Aug 11, 2008 23:35

By all appearances, a girl of about eighteen, give or take a few years, enters a Bar.

Said girl freezes for a moment in the doorway; this place is not familiar to her. She shakes her head once as though clearing it, then appears to stop and debate something with herself.

What is this place?
It's a bar, genius. Why are you asking me? Why am I ( Read more... )

"Huh, hi." Maybe Ben can help? "First time here?"

The girl smiles apologetically.

"Yes, I believe I've gotten myself lost someh--"

She meets the young man's eyes, and freezes, shocked.

Oh, no. Human. Wild human.

She feels a tiny twinge of triumph from somewhere inside her head, but backs up slowly in spite of it, back toward the door.

Ben makes no move to approach, tilting head puzzled. "Huh... sorry? Something wrong, I am not going to hurt you or anything..."

Okay, Ben is used to odd reactions, but that wariness is new.

The girl (hereafter referred to as Wanderer, not because she has settled upon it entirely, but because it's easier to type) blinks in surprise. A human who doesn't know her, fear her, or intend her harm?

Why not?
"Why not?" she asks, echoing the errant voice in her head. It's a reasonable question, after all.

There's a man at the bar. Whether he's the sort to set anyone on the correct path is a rather doubtful question.

But he's at the bar, nonetheless.

Seeing no apparent bartender in her immediate vicinity, and wanting to get out of here ASAP, she approaches the man and clears her throat softly.

"Excuse me; I was wondering if you could tell me the address of this place?"

"I believe the best answer to that would be the End of the Universe."

"Which leads me to doubt there is an actual mailing address."

Wanderer blinks in confusion, though it seems to be directed at the latter statement rather than the former (which is simply ridiculous, to be frank.)

"Oh, I am not seeking to mail anything. Earth's system is dreadfully outdated, still."

There's an aqua-haired woman seated not too far away from the girl, sipping idly on a faintly glowing drink while watching the show going on outside the observation window.

Wanderer's eyes widen in fascination when she catches sight of the window; she hasn't seen anything quite like that since Fire World.

"... oh. Oh, how did that get there?"

Game sprite to looks over at the girl's words, realizing she has company. She notes her stunned expression and smiles friendlily.

"I take it this is your first time here?"

The girl smiles back tentatively.

"It is, yes. I was certainly not aiming for this when I set out for groceries."

Ryan, when people watching, always pays particular attention to the wall with the Door. The little glimpses he catches of other people's worlds interest him.

(He really shouldn't torture himself.)

This one, however, has the classic look of 'rookie' about her. These always have interesting reactions, and Ryan watches curiously.

Wanderer still looks a little lost, but having had at least the very basics explained to her, she's trying not to be alarmed every time she meets eyes that don't flash silver, as hers do.

"Hello," she says to the man watching her, and offers a little smile.

Ryan gives her a slight nod of his own, smiling ever so slightly in return. He appreciates the lack of teeth, even if it is unintentional. His nostrils flare a bit as he tries to catch her scent.

His own eyes do occasionally flash another colour, though it's still a few days until that time this month.

"Just arrived?"

... Wanderer rather appreciates the lack of anything involving teeth, as well. She's a non-violent sort.

"Apparently in more ways than intended," she answers, self-conciously.

"Is it like this for everyone?"

"It is confusing at first - yes?" says the man eating a banana.

He looks as though he might have just gone running through a hedge.

"Somewhat, yes. I cannot tell if it is more or less confusing than other experiences I have had recently," Wanderer replies with a tentative smile.

"Did you arrive here unexpectedly also?" she asks, noting the man's state of dishevelment.

Joe glances down at himself, then shakes his head with a slightly sheepish grin.

"Ah. I did not have the time to set myself up," he replies. His English is slightly broken, and his accent is clearly foreign. "The bar appears when I do not expect it."

"Oh, good!" Wanderer exclaims, relieved to find someone else who was at least slightly inconvenienced by this place's appearance.

"I was beginning to think that everyone here simply learned to expect it."
