Trading off with Teja has been interesting -- especially with Teja's forge cats. Zuko is a dog sort of guy (no pun intended; he was once a wolf man, too) so he's not really fond of those things. They're okay, they're just not his ideal companion. But they might grow on them, if they came anywhere near him ( Read more... )

Jenny had intended to visit the forge to borrow Teja's speeder bike again. But the sight of someone else there catches her attention.

She watches him for a few seconds before waving. "Hi!"

Zuko did not even know Teja had a speeder bike, or he would probably want to borrow it too.

When spoken to, he looks up, eyes blinking. "Uh-- hey! Hello. Can I help you?" He hadn't been doing something that'll require immediate cease -- one hand moving as if coaxing the heat to stay in the blade he was about to work with.

She looks at him for a moment before her eyes flicker down towards the blade. The glowing metal is not like anything she's ever seen before.

"You're not Teja," Jenny replies, almost as if surprised by the fact. "I didn't know he let other people work here!"

Zuko's brows furrow, and he says, managing to keep irritation out of his voice, "It's the other way around. I'm the original day blacksmith. I'm just -- out a lot. Ryan's the evening blacksmith, and Teja uses it when neither of us are in."

Really, it's mostly Teja's now, but -- Zuko's a bit protective of what he's worked on.

"Dear brother, what have you been getting up to?" comes a honeyed, familiar voice as Azula strolls up to her brother's unmistakable form shortly after he's ordered his food.

Flinching as if he's just heard nails on a chalkboard, Zuko glances over his shoulder with a scowl. He's dirty and sweaty, and has very obviously been doing unprincely things.

Azula will love that.

"What do you want?" He snaps peevishly, his eyes narrowing a fraction. "I was about to get back to work with lunch."

No explanation about the bar or how he knows about it? Pfft. Never. Zuko does not need to explain himself to Azula, of all people.

Completely ignoring any of Zuko's anger (she was always good at dismissing anything he found important, wasn't she?) Azula shifts her weight and shows her open hands, without weapons in them. Of course, to a Fire Bender the gesture is completely meaningless, maybe even a bit of an insult.

"Zuzu! Such harsh words for your little sister. Coming to this place so often without a word of it to me? You'll make me think you're ashamed of me or something." she coos, even managing to look a bit wounded. "And here I thought we were family."

He's used to her insults, after all these years. All he can do is look at her now, and resist the urge to roll her eyes.

"You found your way here on your own, didn't you?" Zuko says. Damned if he's going to tell her about the fixed door he has access to. That'd be insane!
