"Are you kidding? That was a hole in one," says a distinctive voice, from the door. "I've heard many a fine shot in my day, and that was one. How could you miss the roar of the crowd?"

"Uh, Hawkeye, that was the roar of the minefield," says the quieter, more worried voice. "Your ball blew up."

Hawkeye Pierce steps through into Milliways. "Elementary, my dear Ra--" The lofty tone drops out of his voice; his head turns swiftly from one side to the other. "Radar?" He reaches out, feeling for a certain diminutive noncom's shoulder, and finding nothing. "Radar, if you're there, don't say anything."

The door shuts behind him. Hawkeye's shoulders tense. He stands there for a moment, listening; wearing a ratty maroon bathrobe over khaki fatigue pants and a khaki T-shirt, golf club over his shoulder. A thick white bandage is wrapped all the way around his head, covering his face from mid-forehead to the tip of his nose. His nose and cheeks are unnaturally red under the lower edge of the blindfold -- scorched.

"Of course." He relaxes through sheer force of will. "My favorite bar at the end of the universe." He sets the head of the golf club on the floor, and starts slowly moving toward the bar.

" 'Scuse me," he says, simultaneously dry and flippant, clattering along with the golf club, whacking chairs and tables. "Coming through."
