"... That could go quite a ways towards explaining why I haven't got any," Puck says, after a moment of considering this idea with due gravity. He looks a bit sheepish, a look he's gotten much better at lately. "I suppose I had simply assumed that motherhood and domesticity had stifled her more amorous urges."
Which, if Puck had stopped to think about it, wouldn't have held up very well as compared to, say, his conduct while married.
"My negligence indeed," he says, with genteel horror. "If I recall aright, there was something or other with Coyote some months back, but before or after that I cannot say ... nngh."
Lucifer's voice patterns have slipped a little closer to Puck's; a salesman's trick, barely worth commenting on. And he's not selling anything, just entertaining himself.
It's a trick that Puck employs himself, from time to time, but whether he is paying enough attention to anything not in his head right now to notice is certainly open to debate.
"Of course," he says, "it should have to be someone unaffiliated with her Delicate Flowers-- those sorts of relations end messily, so I am told." A small, decisive nod. "I shall have to begin my search elsewhere."
"I cannot tell if her recent tendency towards the fairer sex is indicative of genuine preference, or if it simply means that sending her a woman should bore her."
Who knew he was the type to acquire Animal Friends? :O

"I'm sure you can make it up to her," he says soothingly.

After a moment, however, he shakes his head and seems to brighten.
"You are quite right, of course," he says cheerfully. "And, in these trying times, no doubt dear Lilly deserves some manner of pleasant distraction."

Lucifer's eyes dance.
"Perhaps one of each, just to be safe."

LUCIFER IS BRILLIANT.
"That, I think, is the very thing," he says, with great satisfaction.

"Alanna has a twin brother," Lucifer says.
