The Bar's too complicated an environment for Gordon to handle today. Fascinating as the goings-on are, and enthusiastic as the people who chose trial forms may be, it's just too much. He seriously considered going back to his room and just staying there when he came down the stairs and saw that Cubefall was in full swing, but...

If I quit, if I ( Read more... )

The report of a gun can be heard, and a girl can be seen shooting at some targets that are impossibly far away.

"Shit," she said to herself, "Gotta remember to get 'em in the head."

Gordon isn't the only person outside. In fact there is another man off beside the inlet sitting in the sand with legs crossed and legs rolled up to his knees. A field of rocks and shells dance about him as if he were playing a game or trying to figure out a puzzel- either may be quite possible with the 'insane' brother from Amber.

If he doesn't pay attention, when a rock is kicked out, it goes flying in the glassed man's direction.

Gordon's sort of used to things flicking in at him from odd angles. Usually they scream, too, but he knows better than to count on that. One hand comes up reflexively as something flies towards-

Oh. It's a rock.

Well, he can probably let go of the crowbar with his other hand now.

Yeah. He could unless he wants to play baseball with them or try. Why? Because another one or two are coming his way along with the mutterings of the Prince as he tries to refine some sort of plan or another he's working out with said items.

Gordon sighs and tosses the rock back in the other fellow's general direction, although not directly at him. It's more of a silent 'watch what you're doing' gesture than a threat display.

It is hard to miss Hel, when she leaves the place she's been staying and heads for the lake. She has a basket with her, draped over her left arm, and when she settles down she removes sewing from it. Despite the fact that there is enough cloth to cover Gordon four times with more to spare, the embroidery is as delicate as a machine could do.

... wow.

Wow.

The last time he saw anything that size and alive, it was the gargantuan things in Black Mesa.

Damn.

Half right, anyway, but when she notices his gaping the lips on the living side of her face curl into a wry smile and she says, "My mother was Jotun, a giant. I am of average size for her people."

Hel is a soprano.

... Gordon's going to just sort of reach under his chin and push his jaw closed now, mm'kay?

"Yes'm," he manages. "I, uh... wow. Didn't... expect to see you there."

Big big things are a part of reality, but big big things that are human looking, well, that's kind of freaky.
