One Kanon, in the bar, at a table. He's got a set of A-T before him, parts splayed out over the table, and tools ready to be used. It's a spare set, one that he's merely messing with, attempting to see what variables he can push - he's not that interested in the task, but he's pretending to be. However, one may be able to guess that he's not paying ( Read more... )

A pink-haired girl walks into a Bar - stop me if you've heard this one - a pink-haired girl walks into a Bar, humming and spinning what looks like a roller skate wheel in her left index finger, a tool, scratched from use, held in her other hand as she watches the wheel spin with a thoughtful frown.

Oh, this isn't one you've heard before, is it? Never mind.

Kururu almost doesn't notice her cousin doing similar work at a table. Almost. She stops humming for a moment, blinking and tilting her head at him, before starting up again much softer.

It takes her no time at all to slide in to a chair on the other end of the table and spread her own equipment over her section of free surface, without so much as a wasted movement or a glance in Kanon's direction. She sets the A-T core down on the table and sets to work on it in earnest, looking up at him just before she does.

"Good to see you ♪," she says, to the same rhythm she's still humming, and sets to work.

Ah, distraction. Now all of Kanon's focus is on his dear cousin, no matter how much focus he ought to be paying to anything else. " ♫ Kururu-chan," he says, his voice almost a chirp from the cheeriness. " Is that what I think it is? ♪ "

At his question, Kururu ducks her head and laughs, slight and shy. "Not exactly," she says, and picks it up to flip it so Kanon can get a better look at it. The core itself is featureless, blank, unmarked. "I have some ideas about air tension after talking to Ikki last time, and I wanted to see what they looked like without having to worry about what might happen if I got it wrong the first time!" She lets her fingers loosen and catches the core as it falls into her hand. "So I made a duplicate of Bagram's basic parts to work on for just these situations ♪!"

After setting the core back down, she goes back to work. "It's not perfect, but it'll tell me if I'm on the right track with what I'm thinking about Ikki's training, at least ♫!"

"And what are those ideas, exactly?" Kanon inquires. His eyes are glancing over the wheel quickly as she works, studying it and taking all the details in. "What are you thinking?"

Ben found the bar in his quarters again today. Fortunately, no one's expecting him, and his ridership's not on duty, so he's allowed to have alcohol, and Bar has both excellent vodka and excellent orange juice...

Anyway, Ben, with a screwdriver, walks by Kanon's table, and stops to peer at the parts and tools on the table. Nothing looks all that familiar to him - oh, that tool's the other sort of screwdriver, that's probably to hold something still so that it can be manipulated by other tools, but he's distracted enough by the weird mechanical parts that he forgets he's staring at another patron's stuff.

Kanon doesn't mind staring. He'd be hypocritical if he did, after all - he certainly investigates others on a high occurring basis.

" ♩ Hello," he greets, his voice quick and fast, a query in the sing-song tone.

"Hello," Ben replies, startled. "Seriously sorry for intruding, I just haven't seen people with tools out at a bar before."

" ♫ It's not an intrusion," Kanon assures him, and offers him a grin. "Although I find that hard to believe~. What sorts of bars are you going to?"

Perhaps it was just where he came from. There were many A-T bars, and therefore this sort of thing was far more normal.

But even this place, everyone seemed to do all sorts of work, hmm?
