Carlotta is in a booth near the fire, struggling over her french prep.

"'J'aime le chien, c'est noir.' What on Earth is that supposed to mean?" she mutters.

"I like the dog, it's black", Gavroche translates helpfully over her shoulder. "It doesn't mean anything."

She looks up and grins.

"Thanks." Her voice has both spanish and cockney in it.

"No problem." He grins back. "I'm Gavroche."

"Carlotta Brown, nice to meet you Gavroche. I'm simply awful at French."
