J.C. approaches somewhat timidly, for him. "Hi Shufti. Hi Jack." Then conversationally, to the latter: "You should do what your mom says and wear your shoes. Step on something sharp without them and you're going to be sorry."
"My door came back," J.C. says, because he can't think of a good way to gradually work up to the statement. "I'm going home soon. But I owe you and a few other people a goodbye first."
