It seemed safe to come back, so she did.

Safe for her. Possibly not safe for others.

Ah, but what's the harm in a little chat? After all, what you don't know can't hurt her.

She's holding court from a raised table, all high heels and tall drink. There may be a cherry involved.

If she's smiling, it's probably at you.

She's probably not smiling at him.

He's certainly not smiling.

Due to a breakdown in communications (what a lovely glossing-over term for 'people were idiots'), the scenario and script for Evie's birthday have not been finalized, and then the door from his office led here, again.

This place is becoming just as much of annoyance as it was, before.

An annoyance? Surely not. All things must be taken as a boon, no matter how disguised.

She catches his eye and beckons him over with a toss of her head.

Perhaps he'd like to talk about his feelings?

Not likely.

If the door decides not to open for either of them, upon their wishing to leave, no amount of argument will persuade him that it is some kind of boon.

He is not one to be persuaded, at the best of times.

The Rider approaches, after getting himself a drink, and takes the seat next to her.

"Miss Gower," he greets.

She arches her neck, in what passes for a nod. "Mister Doyle. And how is the office these days in your department?"
