The front door opens, and in come Simon and River Tam.

River's appearance has changed somewhat since earlier tonight. She's wearing the same shirt, but has changed the skirt for bike shorts and put on boots.

And weapons.

One gun at each hip, and a sword slung across her back.

There's a dreamy distance in River's face, and her hand drifts absently across the inlaid handle of one gun as if she's feeling its texture for the first time.

But there's an easy grace in how she wears all three weapons, as if they're part of her body, as if she's always worn them and moving to accomodate weaponry is ancient automatic habit.

After a moment her head lifts slightly, cants sideways, and she glances at Spike. He's alone now: no Andrew, and none of the group that was gathering with them just a few minutes ago.

Sit tight and wait to be called for, that's what he said. Bloody dull so far.

Well, at least the company just got a whole lot better.

He steps toward River (and that's her brother with her, isn't it?), starting to say something innocuous and inane like all ready to go then, and then the front door opens again.

It's Jonathan, hovering in the doorway and looking around for them.

Looks like somebody's come a-calling.

River says something soft to her brother, with a tiny smile up at him; I promise, it sounds like.

And then she turns away, towards the door.

And Harth drops from the rafters, grins disarmingly in case anyone tries questioning him, and follows them through.

It's later when Susannah rolls through the door; long enough for a parting.

She's been checking pretty regular since she talked to Simon, and this is why.

Simon's sitting in an armchair by the fire, watching the door.

His head comes up in recognition when he sees Susannah, and after a moment he raises a hand.

She knows, the minute she sees him, what's going on. She's seen enough Milliways missions; she saw Eddie waiting that way when they came back from the Academy.

She holds up a hand, not in a wave, but in a 'one minute,' gesture, and goes back out the way she came.

He's ... a little taken aback, but waits.

Which he was doing already, so it's not as though it's out of his way.
