Despite his airy assurances the night before, Lord Peter had no evidence that all would indeed be well. The Lady did not seem to have lost much blood, but he knew from experience the trauma to the body that such things cause. Lord Peter, sipping his tea calmly, pauses and sets down his teacup when he hears the woman stirring.

Apparently they do here in quite a concrete way. Certainly last night, though I fancy myself less a minister of grace and more a good samaritan, at the proper times.
Please don't move your arms too much.

He pours a cup of tea for her, and hesitates over the sugarbowl.

How do you take your tea?
