Saturdays are Tommy's favourite day of the week, or were until he got landed in uniform again. Now they're more or less like every other day, which is to say either relatively uneventful or, more frequently, interrupted by the world's constant need for saving ( Read more... )

If Tommy's attentions are elsewhere, how's he going to notice the invisible boy hiding up in the ceiling?

One of the perks of having genetically bonded abilities is hypersensitivity. Were it any other day, Tommy would probably already be looking around with an almost feral intensity, pinpointing the location of Tyler's movements and even his smell. Fortunately for Tyler, the man's far too preoccupied with whatever he's drawing.

After a moment, however, he sets the sketchbook aside (and face down) on the coffee table and reaches for his glass of iced tea.

Oh, so he's not about to notice that large waterballoon that's just been dropped on his head is he?

He does notice it, in fact, though only once it's too late to move out of the way. Tommy yells and jumps to his feet; the immediate area is soaked, and he's not faring any better. His black t-shirt is plastered to his skin, and his hair...

Well. That doesn't bear description, but if you had to describe it, the terms "drowned" and "rat" would both be applicable. So would "hilarious" and "eyesore."

If he's hoping to meet new people, would he object to an old... 'friend', then?

Hey, one hopes not. Because Jase is coming up right behind him, and leans over the back of the sofa, throwing his arms around Tommy's neck. Let's hope this doesn't end up with some sort of automatic-defensive reaction from the Ranger, oops.

"The heck you drawing?" he asks, trying to peer and see.

Fortunately for Jason, Tommy doesn't hit back. He recognises just who has their arms around his throat quickly enough that he smiles, rather than thrashing or punching.

"Oh, nothing," he says a bit too quickly, flipping the sketchbook closed and looking up at Jason with a smile. "Haven't seen you around lately, stranger."

"Yeah," Jase says, and glances at the door, his eyes narrowed. "You'd think that thing would try to help us out more often."

Outside circumstances aren't!

"Yeah, I know," Tommy says quietly, catching one of Jason's hands and pressing a kiss to the back of it. "The beginning of the new semester is always a bit crazy. If my brother can spare you, though, maybe you'd like to come up to Reefside this coming weekend? I've missed you, and as nice as the phone calls and video chats are, I far prefer having you around in person."
