Since the pup was whining at the mun for the past week, even going so far as to post in dear_mun about it...

HERE'S A TOKI.

Toki was really rather not doing much lately, just working as he always did on his model planes and getting snarked at by his comrades. It wasn't all good, however, or even all that great.

There'd been a secret that he'd stumbled ( Read more... )

Now here's something curious. His younger self is back from Europe -- and indeed spent most of the day in the bar -- but the elder Miniver found his door right where he left it and so has mosied in to shack up where the REALLY good booze is and avoid Nathan, who was last seen trying to put him on a chandelier again.

But a sulking Toki is no good! Miniver spots him soon after coming in, and wanders over with a bottle in his hand and two more in his trenchcoat pockets to perch on the piano bench next to the Norwegian.

Perching hippies are good for one thing. "Accidentally" pushing off the piano bench while reaching for one of the farther keys, obviously.

He was in no mood.

Miniver goes like this:

!!!!!

...more or less exactly, as his ass unexpectedly meets the floor.

"...ow." At least his bottles weren't broken! That might have pissed him off. Pocketfullabooze isn't good unless you can drink it.

Toki looked over his shoulder at the musician on the floor. "Oh. Didn'ts sees you dere."

He continued to play, despite the fact that yeah, okay, he felt just a little bad about doing that. He sighed and nodded his head in the time of the song, lips moving to the lyrics of the song that only played in his head.

If one could read lips,
"Listen to the tales and romanticize,
How we'd follow the path of the hero,
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun,
How we rise to the height of our halo."

His eyes followed his fingers over the keys, playing his emotions through them, into the song that filtered through the room. It wasn't sorrowful, it wasn't sad in any way. It just made things seem gray and faded, drinks didn't quench the thirst as well as they should have, food didn't sustain that hunger. The beauty of the world around them was cracked and broken, and all due to the song pouring from the fingertips of the guitarist at the piano.

Rem loomed behind him.

"Thankyou," she said.

"For whats?" Asked the guitarist. He didn't bother looking up from the keys.

"For the music," she said, "What's wrong Toki?"

"Nothings dats can be helps right now. Is somethings personal dats I gots to deals with, so is nots goings to be solves with Deaths notes or any of dats momble jombles."

It was in his nature to brush off help even before it was given, save for by a select few people, and even then, it was all taken with a grain of salt. His music continued to pour from his fingertips, eyes half closed as they followed his fingers over the ebony and ivory.

Eventually he had a blonde with a dragon perched on his shoulder leaning against the piano, arms crossed.

He knew something must be up when Toki wasn't in any of his usual hiding places, and when Pompeii wouldn't leave him alone when he said 'go bothers a Toki'

So, he showed up at the only place left to look, and sure enough, there was Toki. He could wait. Just not very long, nor very patiently.

Toki luckily only had a few more bars to play before he was finished, and looked up at Skwisgaar with a weak, tight-lipped smile.

"Heyderes. What you wants?"

It wasn't that he was avoiding Skwisgaar, noooo.

He shrugged, flopping himself down on the other side of the bench and transferring Pompeii to Toki's shoulder with one smooth sweep, "Nothin', you's is weren't being of abouts anykindsof place in de Mordhaus, so I's is was thinking on dat you's is probably be here."

Whoa, words.

"S'because I can'ts stands just beings dere allatimes, you knows dat." He also needed to vent through a piano, and didn't feel like being teased about it.

He put an arm around Skwisgaar's waist and curled closer. "I sorries I hasn't comes to says hello today. Is... kindsa personals."
