This is not the Medusa of before, who had healed Kate while wearing a pleated skirt and the quiet confidence of a queen. This Medusa is all Egyptian linen and half wild-bird-skittish.

Still, Merlin is...a friend, as much as she thinks of it, and behind her glasses her eyes are wide and wider.

"Merlin!"

Merlin really does not want to move right now, as evidenced by the fact he's remaining where he fell. Also, he's shaking almost uncontrollably.

"Gorgon..."

The wild look in his eyes is probably not good.

Her hand lifts up and then falls. Never physically awkward, she's still not sure what to do.

"Yes. Medusa Gorgos, Merlin of Chaos. I can help you."

"Find my brother."

Pause.

"Looks just like me."

Pause.

"Gonna kill him."

Teja jumps up from where he has been brooding by the fireplace when he sees Merlin stumble down the stairs all bloody.

"What ails you?" he asks, the moment he reaches the Amberite's side.

That produces a raspy laugh, almost a giggle.

"Dreams ail me," he manages after a moment.

"Dreams that you come away from covered in blood?" Teja says. "I had one that real."

So Merlin was affected as well, and worse, even, than Guppy had been.

Guppy.

"You will need the healers."

"Lost a lot of blood."

He's had some medical training.

"Healers are good too."

Merlin would wince at how stupid he sounds right now if he was in a better frame of mind.

Doc had been outside since Merlin had needed him to leave for a bit, which he understood and there was work to be done with the horses. He'd come in to warm himself up a bit and then he heard the stumble and the fall.

And then saw.

"Fuck!"

And he clears a couch. He's a doctor, if a basic one, but still. Merlin's hurt. Bad. And needs help. Badly.

The halfbreed is in too much pain to care about the picture he presents right now; vanity has taken a backseat to please stop the hurting nao, kthx.

So he'll just kneel there and hope the blood isn't still running freely.

Doc isn't looking at the picture. He's looking at the injuries.

"What the hell happened?"

He quickly grabs a stack of towels off the bartop. There is blood everywhere. Everywhere. "If you think you're gonna pass out, lie down, otherwise you should keep your shoulders up," his voice is clear, calm. New Orleans comes back to him, lazy afternoons, southern charm, sitting in classes and learning how to do this.

He folds towels and presses them against the slices in the flesh, trying to stop the bleeding. The stumps from his wings make him cringe just a little but he hides it.

They need the infirmary.

Merlin's injures fall into two seperate categories. There are the stumps where his wings once rested; from the jagged wounds, it looks as if someone sawed off each of the appendages by hand, and not very carefully either.

And there are the strips of flesh missing from his back, most of them the size of quarters, mingled in with the gashes that make it appear as if that same person just keep slicing away at his flesh.

It takes a lot of hatred to do something like this.

"'s a dream..." He manages, hoarsely.

Gavroche is already running before he even sees where the man is, just from the smell alone.

His little knife is in his hand when he reaches the place.

"I'm a wizard", he says hastily, scanning over Merlin's wounds. "Will you accept healing?"

Merlin looks up, barely able to focus on the boy. His wounds consist of back damage and loss of wings by the same weapon - a large knife of some sort.

"Also a wizard. You can try. Infirmary would be nice too."

"Maybe when you can move."

Without hesitation, he slices the knife into his palms, one after the other, and presses the cuts briefly to each of the wounds. He's already starting the words of the major healing, and soon there'll be no going back.

This is going to hurt the stranger more than he might think. The cut of the shackles against his wrist, and the slice of Jurt's knife into the flesh of his back, barely eclipse what the nightmare did to his wings.

Merlin would have tried to stop him if he knew what Gavroche was up to.

A strong bony arm caught Merlin gently.

"Should I find a doctor?" asked the voice of Rem.

"Infirmary. Now. Please."

Beat.

"Rem, right?"

"Yes," she said, "I am Rem. You are Merlin."

In an instant they were flying towards the infirmary, yes, she has wings.

"I am sorry if this is a little uncomfortable," she said, "but it is easier to fly thank walk while carrying someone. What happened?"

Merlin's not quite sure, but he does have some suspicions.

"Nightmare."
