Here's someone the bar hasn't seen in ages--it's Marguerite who's here for an espresso and a people watch.  She's happy to see that the bar is the same as always in the sense that it is completely different every time she has come into the bar, thus the change is normative.  Marguerite really needs a coffee, so she orders one and begins her ( Read more... )

"There you are," Roxton says jovially once he finds her table. Last night's conversation is not forgotten, but it is pushed aside for now.

"And here I was wondering if you'd ever visit again." He's knows Challenger's interrogations can be rough, but he's more than willing to take all the questions.

Only don't let her know that.

"Yes, I'm here," Marguerite says, toying with the handle of her mug. "Again. With you." It is the closest she comes to getting away with Roxton and she enjoys their time together.

"And Challenger won't stop talking about how I should return and make detailed observations about the bar and it's physics. I thought this little trip would shut him up for a while," Marguerite adds, hoping to down play her previous comment which was too revealing.

"A scientist to the end. Does that mean you're taking notes for him? Or merely observing," Roxton asks, hands folded behind his back and grinning down at her.

Marguerite do work? Voluntarily? That's a laugh.

"Just observing. Your stories, it seems, lacked critical attention to detail," Marguerite smiles over her coffee.

Roxton isn't any different from the men she'd met at Oxford--they all assumed that she lacked a critical eye because she was a woman.
