Merlin wanders down the stairs, fresh from a nap and some work on a set of new Trumps he's creating, which explains the tired expression on his face. At the bottom of the staircase, he's suddenly seized by an inexplicable urge to sing:

In Eighteen-fourteen, we took a little trip )

How about the very attractive Mexican lady, shaking her brown hair free of its bun?

Once she's done, she applaudes.

"Erm, thanks."

Merlin offers a somewhat shaky smile, because she is pretty, then turns his attention to the glass of alcohol.

"You're welcome."

He's torn between ignoring her or remembering his manners. Guess which one wins out?

"Merlin." A hand is politely extended - not the one with the drink.

Someone is already there with their Atlantean, with the air of one who is blushing, if not the color.

"You got caught in it, too?" She asked.

Merlin eyes the Atlantean and notes the tone of voice.

"I did. Might end up hiding out with the demon bunnies later."

Not that he's actually seen one yet.

"That might be fun," she smirks. "Though they wouldn't hang around me too long. They know me."

But they are not able to count high enough to know how many of them Yrael has eaten over the years.

"It'd be less embaressing than being caught up in this again."

He directs a glare towards the staircase, just in case it had something to do with his predicament.

Will has an ale and a confused look as he opens his mouth,

"Every town
Has its ups and down
Sometime ups
Outnumber the downs

But not in Nottingham."

Then drinks quite quickly and blushes as he sits down beside Merlin. He has a pleasant tenor voice.

Merlin opens his mouth to greet Will and out comes,

"In Eighteen-fourteen, we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in a town in New Orleans"

Damnit.

The look in Will's eyes is one of sympathy as he tries again,

"I'm inclined to believe
If we were so down
We'd up and leave

We'd up and fly if we had wings for flyin'
Can't you see the tears we're cryin'?
Can't there be some happiness for me?
Not in Nottingham."

There's more drinking then.

A second try on his part garners,

"We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they began to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico."

Merlin very carefully rests his head on the bar.

Nobody but the blonde who gives up her table for a seat at the bar.

"So I take it the singing is running rampant again."

Her smile is sympathetic.

"Hey, beautiful."

Nope, no Chaosian blushing around here.

"Apparently. How bad was I?"

"You were fine," she says, giving him a soothing pat on the shoulder.

"Besides, it's not like you were singing spontaneous declarations of love to anyone."

Wince.

"Which reminds me--Bar? Tequila, please."

"That's very true." Does it count if the first person he thinks of is Jack? Probably not.

Merlin reaches down to capture that hand and lift it to his lips.

"Did you get caught up in this too, my lady?"
