Bran will have to leave Clwyd for the spring term soon, but at the moment he's still at the farm, reviewing his classnotes, preparing the next semester's work, helping out his father and the other farmworkers, and remaining infuriated at the local news

Meghan is still here. She's still mostly keeping to her room, but she's come down tonight for dinner.

"Hi, Bran."

Bran smiles warmly at her as he comes to her table. "Hello, Meg. Noswaith dda -- that is 'good evening,' in Welsh. How are you?"

She smiles back. "I'd try to repeat that, but it would probably just hurt your ears.

"I'm okay. I think it was Christmas here, but I wasn't really paying attention."

It's a rotten time to be stuck away from home in a place you don't want to be.

"How are you?"

"Wise of you," Bran laughs. "My friend Will tries to speak Welsh, and his tongue always tangles up on the consonants. Only what is to be expected from an Englishman, of course.

"And I am also well. Christmas at home, too, last week, and it was very good. Of course there is all the work to be done for school yet."

Tegid sat strumming his harp near the fire. He looked up and smiled, dark eyes glistened in the firelight.

"Hail, Bran! How do you fair?" called Tegid.

"Well enough," Bran says, taking a seat near the fire. "I had a good holiday. How are you, Tegid?"

"I am fairing well, brother," said Tegid grinning.

[theravenboy]

"Glad to hear it. A lovely song, that was, that you were playing. Does it have a name?"

There's a wizard peeking from across the table.

"Back to school already, Bran?"

[theravenboy]

"Not quite," Bran answers, "but term starts again in a week or two, and I will have to be ready. How are you, Nita?"

[nita_callahan]

"Back at school," she replies with a laugh. "Much as I wish it was still break. I probably should've done more of what you're doing."

[theravenboy]

"I am sure it will be all right. The work always seems to get done in the end," he smiles. "Where are you at school now, Nita?"

Mary is regarding him solemnly.

"Are you still angry?" she asks, after a few moments.

[theravenboy]

"Yes," Bran says gently, "but I am getting better at putting the anger aside when there is nothing that I can do about it. And right now, there is nothing I can do. How are you, Mary?"

"I am twelve now," Mary informs him, standing a little straighter, "but other than that I am mostly as usual."

[theravenboy]

"Penblwydd hapus, then. Happy birthday," Bran says, as solemn as Mary. "There were very many important things that happened to me, the year I was twelve."
