Anyone watching the door will note a tall, lanky figure, and a spotted dog. The former has on a jacket and a hat, pipe clamped between his lips, a red leash, held in his left hand, attached to the dog. From the messenger bag slung over his shoulder, he draws a pad of stationery and a pen.

Luke puzzles at the pawprints, but he places the note in his pocket in case he should want it later, anyway.

Puss recieves the note when he orders a glass of milk. He gives it careful study and asks for a paper and ink pad.

A very careful print is made on the paper and a 'P' is added to it and left for the two.
