Obi-Wan recognises the first and last characters as numerals from the Earth alphabet Dr Donighal showed him, but the middle glyph is not one he's learnt yet. So he stares

"Master Kenobi?" That would be "Bruck", who noticed Obi-Wan. "You look confused. What's wrong?"

"Oh, hallo, Bruck. I'm just trying to figure out why the Bar gave me this cake. And what that middle glyph means, the one between the 3s."
The cake is a truth.

Glance at the glyph. "That's...the pound sign." Pause. "Used to stand for the word 'number' on Earth. Three number three."
Yes, but to all parties concerned the cake is far more obvious.

"...I think this actually makes less sense than it did before I knew that. But if I'm meant to understand it, I will."
And if he doesn't, there's no sense crying over every mistake.
