Riku is in Milliways once more. He can be found outside, near to the lake, wielding a practice wooden sword. For every day that he'd lost his sight, he'd gotten rustier with his fighting skills, and he's finding as many chances as he can to practice now ( Read more... )

It's not often that Xemnas feels the need to prove a point. Generally things are sufficiently in his favour that he doesn't need to exert any influence whatsoever to tip the scales the way he wants them to go.

After his last encounter with Riku, however, he's still feeling ill at ease. It's a feeling that does not sit well with him, particularly not where this individual is concerned. He's always viewed Riku as a low-level threat, in spite of the fact that recruiting the boy had, until recently, been high on his list of priorities. Now that he's uncertain about that decision... well.

This time, he doesn't give Riku the chance to sense his arrival. He merely drops out of a misty black portal high above the other, weapons out and far more substantial than Riku's wooden blade. As Xemnas lands, he lets a casual flick of his wrist bring one glowing red beam into contact with the wood; it passes through the weak material like the proverbial hot knife through butter.

"And still you can't keep your guard up. It's almost embarrassing."

"Perhaps," Riku says calmly, "I merely feel no reason to keep my guard up around you."

He lets the sword drop to the ground, as it's needless now; he doesn't even take another moment to even consider it as a part of his reality. "If I'm embarassing to you," he continues, "Why are you still bothering?"

A fair question, he believes.

"You are still as foolish as ever, then." Xemnas straightens and lets the red beams dissipate. "And while embarrassing at times, you're still interesting in your own way."

The Superior's tone of voice suggests that "interesting" may in fact mean, "someone I'm not willing to let walk around without observation and monitoring."

Riku snorts, the sound loud and derisive.

"That may be," he says, "But you've lost a lot of your interest for me."
