Taverns have tavern wenches. Even this one, it seems, at the end of time and all the known world.

"Those are drinks?" Teja asks the blonde tavern wench, looking at the board of names.

If Veronica could hear narration, there would be tasering. Wench indeed.

"Yup! All made up by someone somewhere in some state of inebriation, all accompanied by your Veronica Mars Bartending Guarantee, i.e. if you don't like it you can buy another drink. Can I get you something?"

All the tavern keepers in this place seem to be possessed of remarkable wit; even the wenches.

After that man Atton the other day, Teja is wary of what he says to one of them. "Ahh," he points out, "but I can buy one, not like it, and buy another. That is truly a tavern keepers guarantee!"

Pause.

"I do not trust the inventiveness of inebriation. Please get me a cup of simple dry red wine, well watered down - half wine, half water."

"Maybe not the best guarantee, but it's one you can stand behind," she says while gravely pirouetting the vodka back down the bar, where she puts it away. "You can always buy another drink as long as we have liquor to serve. Solid promise.

"Meanwhile, wine it is!"

Indy wanders up after a while, and deposits himself on a barstool.

"Crisis averted," he declares, relief evident in his voice.

"I found it."

Veronica nearly drops the vodka bottle. It may be surprise, it may be the fact that she lacks practice.

"Mike's body?"

Judging by Indy's expression, that's the craziest thing he's heard for quite some time.

"Uh. No."

"Stampy's favorite squeak toy."

"Did you not notice that she was borderline frantic when you left her yesterday?"

"I figured that was just because, y'know, I was leaving. I get that a lot."

Veronica's equally surprised at first. "Hey, B..."

Confused, she points over her shoulder. "You mean out of the cells? Yeah, a while ago. I went home though, didn't stick around much longer. I've been in and out of here since, but mainly just to grab coffee, quick stops like that. I don't know how long it's been for you..."

"Right."

She gives a weak nod.

"Well. How've you been? What've you been up to?" And, since she is getting paid for her time, "Can I grab you a drink?"

The last time he made it to the Bar, Quinn got temporarily youthened, shaved, and cleaned up for Halloween. The beard and the years came back the next day, but the clean stayed, which was nice. Quinn hasn't really been trying to get to Milliways since, out of a mild worry that the Bar might grab him on yet another holiday and do something stranger, but today it appeared when he went to check on the rabbit hutches. So-

"I could do with any one of those, really. It's been a while."

He grins.

"Hallo, Veronica."

"Quinn! Oh my god, Quinn!"

Veronica lunges across the bar to grab him in a hug, beaming.

"How've you been?"

Quinn beams and returns the embrace. "Better than I would've thought, all things considered," he says. "There's been a lot going on in my world. How about yourself, eh?"

"I've been -"

Attacked, possessed, shooting my friends...

"- good! I've been good." She pulls back and smooths her shirt, absently. "You know me, always keeping busy."
