Jayne's been keeping his head down the past few days.

However, the question of where Lilly went . . . . . . 's been kinda nagging at him.

It's not that he feels guilty.  No way.  Her own damn fault if she ran off in a huff; he'd figured she was more thick-skinned than that.  Nope.

But . . . he'd kinda like to know what became of her.  Is all.

Will happens to pass that booth, he knows Lilly though he hasn't seen her in a bit.

More a worry of not stepping on any little critters or spilling his ale, so his sword might knock Jayne's booth as a rather enthusiastic dog goes by and he has to get out of the way,

"Bloody 'ell, 'ope this gets lifted soon."

"What the hell you talkin' about?" Jayne growls.

. . . . did the narration mention he's not in the best mood?

Then again, it's Jayne; it might not need to be generally specified.

Will's not in that great a mood either, they can share as he turns to see who he bumped into,

"Spell that turned folks into animals, been goin' on for days now."

"So that's where all the gorram critters come from."

Jayne eyes the gorram critters. If any of them comes too close, they're getting kicked, folk under a spell or not.

"- hey, how's that spell get put on people?"

Maybe Lilly got turned into a critter and he missed it.

Ororo is still looking for her kitten, or failing that, one of the crew members who have been described to her. She hesitates a moment before approaching Jayne, though. He meets the description, but he does not seem to be in the best of moods.

Still, it has been a long time since she has seen Kitty.

"Please excuse me, but are you Mr. Cobb? Of Serenity?"

Jayne looks up.

'Mr. Cobb.' That's nice. He likes that, when it ain't a Fed using the term, and the girl don't look much like a Fed - though of course you never know.

"Who's it wants to know?"

Ororo is momentarily taken aback by his response, but she understands caution.

"My name is Ororo Munroe. I believe we may have a friend in common, if you are Mr. Cobb?"

"Jayne Cobb, yeah."

Jayne's eyebrows go up a little. "What sorta friend you talkin' about?"

People's definitions of 'friend' may not match.

Peter wanders by, shirtless.

Oh great. One of Lilly's boywhores.

. . . hey wait. One of Lilly's boywhores! Probably has a decent idea of her location, at least.

"Hey! You!" Jayne shouts, in the most mannerly of fashions.

Peter is carrying: one (1) gray polo shirt; one (1) jacket; and one (1) flannel shirt. He nearly drops all of them in his surprise.

"What?"

-- Oh. That guy from Serenity. Jane?

Come to think of it, the boywhore looks a little familiar.

Then again, was a time when Jayne went to all Lilly's functions. Probably seen the kid there. "You been back t'the whorehouse past few days?"

Mouse was hoping for a well-deserved break at Milliways, but it seems like she ain't gonna get one. "What the frag's with the menagerie in here? Whoa!" This last as a cat bolts between her legs, nearly tripping her up.

She ends up catching her balance against the edge of Jayne's table and, as a consequence, notices that he's there. "Hey again," she says. "Any idea what's goin' on with all th'fur an' feathers?"

"Some fella told me they was all people got caught by some damn fool spell, turned themselves into some kinda critters."

From Jayne's expression, it doesn't seem like that's making him look upon them any more kindly.

"Huh," Mouse says, surveying the nearby wildlife and/or domesticlife. "Got somethin' ta do with free food? I hear that's what usually makes this kinda mess." Then, after another look around, "Wonder any of 'em're folks I know."
