"I never told her, I'm sure, but she came up t'offer me condolences on you two bein' gone the other day. Dunno if I'll go. Y'see... Spoon's married."

"It's a'right. Just a little surprisin', is all. The hand was worse."

Wells growls under his breath, but nods. "I expect she's long dead, so I doubt it matters by now," he says, and goes back to unbuckling. "What's this about a hand now?"

There, both bracers off. God, that feels better.

"...." Says Ace, emphatically (don't ask how silence can be emphatic. It just is), as she stares at Wells' tattooed arm.

"....!!!"

That was an even more emphatic silence.

"What?" says Wells, blinking.

Honestly, he's forgotten about it. Comes of wearing the bracers more or less nonstop. Greeks get fucking weird about marking up the body.

Silently (and emphatically) she points at the black snake inked into Wells' arm. If she didn't know for a fact that there's just about no way he could have done that on his lonesome, she would have chewed him out for playing mean tricks on her.

Honestly. It takes a mean sort of git to get a tattoo that looks like the Gallifreyan's convict mark when his da looks like the Doctor. Especially when his da looks like the version of the Doctor that had a similar tattoo.

"Athena did that," says Wells, who still hasn't twigged. Come on, it's his first hour back and his very first person to whom he's spoken English in eight months. He's not thinking of old television shows, not by a long shot. "I called her on the shit she gave Hephaestos, and she said 'oh, right, that's it, you're not going to Delphi if I've got anything to say about it'. Next thing I know I've got fucking ink I didn't ask for and a promise it'll burn my fucking arm off if I go anywhere near a sanctuary of fucking Apollo."

"Right, so, arm. His arm got ripped off, so after the moon he took all the skin an' muscle off an' was puttin' it back t'gether. In the bar." Who needs transition points?

"He's missed you. It was weird - hearin' only one werewolf out there, last moon. He sounded awful sad."
