[OOM: Artemis' priestesses aren't exactly known for being the most pleasant women in the world, but under the right circumstances, they can lend a hand, even to men.

And after a long walk and a long boat ride, Wells finally does what he should've done in the first place.]

The door opens on fire and shadow. The man who steps through is still ( Read more... )

Blink.

Blinkblink.

There's an Ace with a mug of coffee and a stunned expression.

Blink.

Does this mean she can stop looking now, or has she finally gone 'round the twist and started hallucinating people?

Loud hallucination though.

"As far as I know, everyone's home. I'll admit, I haven't been terribly vigilant seein' if there were other folk." Family gets found first. Then she can worry about anyone else.

"On a similarly odd note, I've been invited to Sarah Jane's wedding this weekend. Tomorrow. Whatever."

"Huh," says Wells, setting the right bracer aside and then working the left free. "And she knew you and Spoon were an item?"

"I never told her, I'm sure, but she came up t'offer me condolences on you two bein' gone the other day. Dunno if I'll go. Y'see... Spoon's married."

To a fourteen year old kid she knows and it was the right decision and she isn't mad just...

He's married, and she needs time to get used to the idea.

Wells pauses, mid-unbuckling. "He's what?" he says incredulously.

"He had to, it was either that or she'd be someone's little sex slave, an' she's just a kid, so."

She's defending Spoon's marriage. Surely this earns her some points, right?

"It's a'right. Just a little surprisin', is all. The hand was worse."

Wells growls under his breath, but nods. "I expect she's long dead, so I doubt it matters by now," he says, and goes back to unbuckling. "What's this about a hand now?"

There, both bracers off. God, that feels better.

"...." Says Ace, emphatically (don't ask how silence can be emphatic. It just is), as she stares at Wells' tattooed arm.

"....!!!"

That was an even more emphatic silence.

"What?" says Wells, blinking.

Honestly, he's forgotten about it. Comes of wearing the bracers more or less nonstop. Greeks get fucking weird about marking up the body.

Silently (and emphatically) she points at the black snake inked into Wells' arm. If she didn't know for a fact that there's just about no way he could have done that on his lonesome, she would have chewed him out for playing mean tricks on her.

Honestly. It takes a mean sort of git to get a tattoo that looks like the Gallifreyan's convict mark when his da looks like the Doctor. Especially when his da looks like the version of the Doctor that had a similar tattoo.

"Athena did that," says Wells, who still hasn't twigged. Come on, it's his first hour back and his very first person to whom he's spoken English in eight months. He's not thinking of old television shows, not by a long shot. "I called her on the shit she gave Hephaestos, and she said 'oh, right, that's it, you're not going to Delphi if I've got anything to say about it'. Next thing I know I've got fucking ink I didn't ask for and a promise it'll burn my fucking arm off if I go anywhere near a sanctuary of fucking Apollo."

Ace takes a deep breath. Figures, rights? Gods are right bastards. Or bitches, in this case. That sort of thing is right up their alley.

"Right, so, arm. His arm got ripped off, so after the moon he took all the skin an' muscle off an' was puttin' it back t'gether. In the bar." Who needs transition points?

Blink, blink, blink- Oh. Right.

"What, Spoon? In front of everyone? Christ, that's morbid even for him."

nitro_is_ace October 8 2007, 03:54:33 UTC
"Well. Not the skin an' muscle bit. I'd still be... Um. More flaily if he did that. Just the puttin' t'gether bit."

She's defending him, yes.

She would have. Probably. Ace assumes she would.

"Ah, right," says Wells. "Still, I'm gonna have t'talk to him about that. I'm gonna have to talk to him period, with how long I've been away and all."

She nods, frowning.
"He's missed you. It was weird - hearin' only one werewolf out there, last moon. He sounded awful sad."

And unlike Rhene, Ace wasn't going to go out there.
