New? No. Confused? Yes, though he hates to admit it. Stressed out? Yes, yes, yes. And if he has any more alcohol, he really will need a doctor. So free tea and marshmallows sounds good.
Dexter meanders over. "Hi. I saw your tea and marshmallows sign."
"Hey," Atton, approaching barefoot and in loose, grey sleeping clothes, schools his features into wide-eyed, innocent confusion as he comes over. "I'm really new here. I only arrived about twenty minutes ago - Could you help me?"
A very, very, very nervy and stressed-out-looking man presents himself.
"Hi. I'm not much of a tea person -- espresso's more my thing, heh -- but I can't say no to free marshmallows. Oh, and I'm new here. Completely new. And, uh, confused. And, uh, yeah, stressed out. If you can't tell."
He gratefully sits down and begins his customary rapid ramble.
"Thanks for the welcome, I guess. I'm Nick. And-- I'm not sure if I only got here tonight. Time's been all screwy on me, y'know what I mean? When I was back home in New York, I'd already been up for twenty hours or so trying to wrap up my movie -- I'm a director, y'see. And when I got here, I met this guy who told me some stuff about this place, end of the universe, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, and also that there were rooms upstairs, so, okay, I went up and tried to take a nap, but nice as the room was, I just couldn't fall asleep 'cause this whole thing's been freaking me the hell out! I mean, it's cool that the Bar can serve up bagels and apple juice outta nowhere, but man, I just wanna go home! But I can't see the door I came through! The guy I talked to said I was 'bound' -- what's up with that? And how do I get unbound
( ... )
"Okay. One thing at a time. Yes, this place is weird, but the guy is telling the truth and this is a bar at the end of the universe. You got here through a space-time portal.
Secondly, being Bound means you can't leave here at the moment. But no time should pass in your home world, so it won't affect your film. Most people are Bound in order to achieve or learn something of importance, after which you will be Unbound and able to go home."
Assuming he isn't dead, which might take more marshmallows.
"I sympathise; it's frightening and stressful being Bound for the first time. But you are not alone and you will get through it."

"That's right. How do you like your tea?"
He pours a cup. "I'm Guppy, nice to meet you."

"Just a little sugar to go with the marshmallows. Thanks. I'm Dexter."

He notes the drunkness, but doesn't comment.
"Were you in need of a doctor, new, confused or stressed?"
Reply
He's sort of wondering if Guppy will fall for it.

"Okaaay, to make sure this doesn't turn embarrassing, is this a wind-up? Because you can never be sure around here."

"That's sorta what I've been wondering." With a fearful look around the general bar area.

"I just know someone who looks like you. Would you like some tea?"

"I also have coffee, but there's only so much you can put on a sign."
He pushes out the seat opposite.
"I'm Guppy, welcome to Milliways. When you say completely new, do you mean you only got here tonight?"
