Never too late for some tea, and Giles was used to keeping strange hours for researching. This was a man who considered untranslated books on Sumerian mythology a fun read. So it was, he was sitting at a table with several old and 'smelly' books around him. His favorite kinds. Including some with very graphic and gory woodcuts.

"What are you reading?" chirps a redheaded woman as she walks by his table.

Giles was clearly distracted with it, so there was an absentminded "Hmmm?"

He then blinked owlishly up at her, and politely asked, "I'm sorry?"

"I asked," her smile widens, "What you were reading."

"Oh! Yes, of course. Er, well, this one's a rather good text by a German researcher into some of the likely sources for fairy tales. In fact, had an interesting encounter of that nature some years ago..."

Better stop him before he launches into full intellectual lecture mode.

". . . someone was inspired."

Deitmar usually is not the kind to read over someone's shoulder, since that draws attention, but he's passing through slowly. He's got plenty of time in which to look.

He's also moving in a rather uncoordinated manner, with a lot of pauses for rest. He's pushing himself hard, and the bar is extremely disorienting this time of day.

Like above, Giles was rather engrossed in the text, so he finally glanced up, "I beg your pardon?" Adjusting his glasses on his nose.

It takes a long, long time, and Deitmar is about to move on when there's a response. "It's hard to believe the splatter went that far."

. . . let's just say he knows more about that than he used to want to.

"I have an idea artistic license was taken--although I doubt any witnesses were standing there drawing it."

"Oh one witness was present, but they went mad shortly afterwards. I believe this drawing was based on the poor soul's rantings in later years. Common reaction to demons of that nature."
