There's a new female face in the bar.  This one spent the night after ingesting certain breath mints hoping a certain spell would be slept off, and woke with dismay to find that it hadn't.  Even more, to find that there were clothes--women's clothes--in the right size hung inside the closet.  It didn't exactly inspire confidence that this would be ( Read more... )

So after hearing about just how busy it's been outside, Ryan decides he needs a drink and a smoke after dinner.

Thus, he is at the bar lighting up, one slim glass of vodka in front of him.

Jack looks over, spotting Ryan. For a moment he's not sure whether he should approach Ryan, as oh God, he doesn't want to see Ryan--or anyone, really--like this. But then he's not sure if anyone else they know has been in and told Ryan about what had happened outside, and he needs to know that Chris and Caiti are all right. Besides, it's not like Ryan hasn't been through the same thing before.

With a sigh, Jack picks up his coffee and walks over, grateful that he'd been given flat shoes to go with the jeans and blouse in the closet. It wouldn't have surprised him if all he'd been given were five-inch spike heels.

"Hey, Ryan," Jack says, irritably brushing blonde bangs from his eyes. His voice is low for a woman and husky, like Lauren Bacall or Kathleen Turner's.

Ryan looks up and blinks.

"Hello." Brief yet awkward pause. "Do I know you?"

He's rather certain he doesn't though there is something irritatingly familiar about her. The voice, the expression on her face, all of it.

"It's Jack. By the way, don't eat any of those breath mints on the bar," Jack says, his expression a little pouty.

Angela's come downstairs. She's spent a largely sleepless night worrying about Melou, who'd refused to come upstairs.

And so, Angela gets a cup of coffee as well, and sits down beside the other woman at the bar. "Hi," she says, after ordering her coffee. She holds it in her hands to sip. "New here?"

Jack debates not telling her, just making something up. But it doesn't feel right, and he's not sure if Angie knows that everyone outside is all right. Not to mention that developing a cover is just too much work right now, and he's not in the mood for it.

"No, I've been coming here for a long time. Hi, Angie, it's Grandpa. Whatever you do, don't eat those breath mints on the bar," he says, his now more feminine-sounding voice turning a little wry.

Angela leans forward until her head hits the bar with a soft thunk.

"Yeah, I've heard."

She looks back up at him--her--whatever, and leans her head on her hand. "You...look good?"

"Thanks, I think. How have you been?" Jack asks, sipping his coffee and wishing again that it was something stronger.

"You look how I feel," says a similarly grouchy-looking woman. She has thankfully changed into something more fitting.

"It's been...a rough day. Rough couple of weeks," Jack says, unsure whether he should make up a name or use his own and admit the switch to someone he doesn't recognise.

"Really? It's just been a rough few hours, for me. Not every day one turns into a woman."

Jack gives the woman a wry smile. And now that he thinks about it, the woman does look familiar. "It got you too, then? Jack Bauer," he says, holding out a softer, more delicate hand, though that won't change the strength of his handshake.

After she's asked Bar for some clothes that fit and after she's run into her dad (what fun that was) Chris gets AN IDEA.

It's a struggle not to burst into giggles but somehow she manages Still, the glint in her eye and the slight upward curve of her mouth can't be ignored. Sliding right up to the blonde woman her dad had identified as Jack, Chris orders a beer.

Once it arrives he takes a drink and glances over at Jack. She doesn't stare, though she's tempted to, but her gaze does linger.

"I don't think I've seen you here before."

(She is so proud of herself for not laughing.)

Jack looks up at the younger man, one eyebrow slightly raised. There's something about the sparkle in his eyes that makes him slightly suspicious.

Though not counting those eyebrows, he does have really pretty eyes...

Jack shakes off the thought. "I don't think I've seen you either," he says, a little warily. "Have you been coming here long?"

"Off and on for a couple of years." A slight shrug and she takes a long drink of her beer before looking back and adding, "Haven't been here in a few months though."

"Same here. Where are you from?" Jack asks, momentarily rendered a little speechless as the man takes a drink, before he catches himself. God, what's wrong with him? This guy's a fair bit younger than he is, not to mention that he's a guy.

There's a man leaning against the bar a few seats down, looking over the other patrons. When he catches Jackie's eye, he flashes a charming grin in her direction.

Jack glances to the side just in time to meet the man's eye, and he quickly looks away, flushing. Oh, this is just great.

Though he nearly takes a second look to catch those eyes and that smile again, catching himself at about the same time as he realizes he's blushing. What the hell?

And she's modest, too! That's quite refreshing in a place with so many out-going women. Not that Roxton really minds that, but sometimes a man just needs a mindless flirting game.

Roxton says something to Bar and a moment later Jack's alcoholic beverage of choice is sitting in front of her, along with a note.

A drink from the gentleman.

Jack looks at the drink dubiously. Considering Bar gave it to him, it should be safe to consume; the real question is whether he wants to take it considering it's an obvious come-on, and Jack's kind of involved with someone at the moment.

But then...free drink. Free alcohol, which he could use at the moment. Besides, if he tries anything, Jack can kick the guy's balls so hard he won't be able to sit for a week.

Taking a sip, he turns to the man sitting down the bar and gives him a slight nod.
