bartending

"Bob, I'm a little concerned about something."

"What's that boss?"

"I've gotten word that there's something going on here this weekend."

"Here in the bar?"

"Okay, I should've said 'back home in Chicago', but you know what I mean."

"Nope. Sorry, no clue. The last time you let me out Mouse was still on the puppy food."I roll my eyes at the ( Read more... )

Will has been putting off speaking to Harry since he's not sure how he'd feel about Molly going to Nottingham, though she's back in Chicago and Will's going to head home for a bit too.

Okay, this can be done, Harry's her teacher and helping her after all the other trouble, and the tequila headache is kind of gone,

"Fair eve, sir."

I nod to the familiar chap across the bar.

"Hi. What can I get ya?" Though the guy looks like he might be a little nervous.

"Probably just some water tonight, sir. An wanted to tell ye that after I got me memory back, took Molly to Nottingham, sir, but naught 'appened just a quiet day tis all. An 'er door came back."

The last is added with a very real smile though Will's still nervous, because he has no idea how Harry is going to react.

"Molly seems to be getting to visit a lot of places here lately."

Now, I'm not angry or upset about any of this... not even so much at not having been told ahead of time about Nottingham... but I can't let him know that, now can I?

"Chicago Fizz," he asks as he settles on a stool. He spins it once before grinning at Harry. "And on the double, barkeep."

I hold up my gloved left hand. "You do realize that 'on the double' is just under normal speed for everyone else, right?"

He'll get his drink - I might go intentionally slow, but he'll get it.

He grins.

"That was the plan. After all, you'll tell me to buzz off after you get me the drink."

Grin.

"Probably."

I'm pouring things, this is hard work, he'll just have to be patient.

There is a gimp with a cane sliding up to the bar. He nods to the skull. He almost likes the skull better than the bartender. he has a thing about not liking people as cranky as he is. And besides, talking skull. Duh.

"What if I want a New Jersey Cocktail?"

wizard_dresden July 18 2007, 00:47:29 UTC
"Then you're a long way from home."

And he'll have to pay full price... if there even *is* such a thing as a NJ cocktail.

There most likely isn't, but he'd spout off ingredients, if asked. He'd just make it up as he went.

"So what makes Chicago so special?"

I smile at him.

"I live there," spoken in the tone of 'duh'.

There's a redhead at the end of the bar watching Harry with a faint smirk. She'd been on her way home when she saw him tending bar, and quickly decided she could spare time for a drink or two. Her scarlet tunic and black boots are looking a little worse for wear, but Alanna herself looks infinitely more relaxed than the last time they spoke.

Not being pregnant helps.

Still standing, Alanna leans on Bar and calls out, "I'll have a cider."

I give the lovely redhead a look. "Only if there's no more bun in the oven." Which, hell, since she was about to pop last time I saw her, she'd better have already had the kid.

Alanna snorts, drawing back and holding her hands wide as she turns in a circle.

"All three buns have been removed and are currently at home running their father and grandfather ragged," she announces cheerfully.

"Good to know." I give her a smile. "And which size cider would you like? We have small, medium and super size!" I hold up a shot glass, a tankard for ale and a small barrel.
