The room in the House of Arch that was his is empty now. The things in it have been returned or dispersed, with a few exceptions.

One is the bundle of books that Peter now leaves on the bar for Professor Kirke. The other is the sword on his hip.

That's staying there.

Peter takes his tea to a booth by the windows and looks out over the water.

Tom walks over, not eager to say goodbye to his friend and former resident, but most eager to wish him well on his way. Peter played a vital role in the House, and for that he will always be grateful.

"Hullo, old man. I thought I might come see you off."

Lilly hasn't been out to the stables in a while, not since the last keeper left and she stopped having an interest in braiding Peter's horse's mane. She was out today, though.

"So it turns out Duncan remembers me. Or, well. He didn't bite me. I'll take that."

He sighs, and smiles ruefully. "Waiting. Remembering."

His fingers drum on the swordhilt.
