It's pretty out by the lake. More than ever, in this Scottish summer; wildflowers are blooming under the trees and scattered through the grassy lawn, and the gardens are a profusion of herbs and flowers, and the mountains rise green and hazy at the horizon ( Read more... )

Falling in love has a tendency to turn your head. In Marian's case it seems to stolen most of her sleep and her shoes, too. This doesn't bother her though, nor does the few inches of soaked dress at the bottom of her skirts.

She is in love.

Walking in the rolling edge of the waves at the shore, when she spots the young man sitting alone, engrossed between the sea and mountains. Curiosity gets the best of her feet, after studying him from the distance, and they went to him. She can always turn back to the ocean in a few minutes.

"Fair eve."

Edmund glances up with a quick smile -- he saw her, wading in the lake-sea with her bare feet and her dress that's almost Narnian, and he couldn't help but add the figure into his drawing.

It's so close, and yet never quite the same.

"Fair eve, lady."

Marian colored slightly, even as she smiled, since she hadn't quite gotten past the point in her head where she'd say hello. Love-addled minds having short leases between the love and the other thoughts.

"I've seen you a couple of times in the bar, but never had the chance give greeting before. I'm not interrupting you, am I?"

She made a graceful gesture toward his book, with an air that said she wouldn't hold any slight in turning around and going back if she was.

"Not in the slightest," Edmund says with an easy smile, and sets his sketchbook aside on the bench.

He's following her lead on speech patterns, for there are plenty of Narnians who speak in this sort of syntax too, and so he says, "I'm glad to meet anyone who has the sense to enjoy such a day as this. I'm Edmund Pevensie."

Will is moving between the Bar and the inlet, doing his best to make his friend smile again and sees the man drawing and bows to him, trying to remember if they've met or not,

"Good e'enin', sir, tis lovely 'ere."

They have, once, though Will was a little bit hungover at the time.

"Aye, is it not?" Edmund returns, with a seated half-bow and a smile. "A beautiful summer altogether."

The drawing is what prompts Will a bit more and the cadences of the man's speech, so he smiles as he speaks,

"Are ye able to capture it at all, sir, seems must be 'ard to put such beauty on the page?"

"I've yet to meet the artist who can capture it all," he admits. "If such a fellow exists, I am not he. I do my best, that's all."

Gen: This will be a Cora comment. Seriously. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.

I just, you know, have six other threads to tag with Zach and Finn. And...um...you are nice and won't be grumpy? *innocents at?*
