How do you say, 'sorry, I didn't mean to disappear, and by the way I'm pregnant'?

"You've got plenty of time," she re-assures him. "Seven months, almost."

He shakes his head.

No no no! Seven months! That's no time at all! Not when it's his child, his only child, his first child, his child with her, her child with him, their child, their baby, which made him a father!

...you'll excuse him. He'll calm down eventually.

Of course.

That's why they're married.

...or rather, what happens when you've been married as long as they've been and you learn enough about a person to realize certain things.

He's not sure what he's supposed to do, but there should be something. He's just not used to doing this.

He shakes his head.

And the noise he's making in confusion is the squeaking of hinges freshly made that haven't had the edges rub off yet.

"You'll do fine," she reassures him.

"Really."
