Summer is coming to Misselthwaite, now, and the gardens are full of opening roses. Archibald Craven does not go out often to the gardens. They are Mary's place, and Colin's, and he does not wish to intrude. The summer still reaches him, though. On certain afternoons this time of year, warm sunshine filters into the windows of Archibald's library, turning the book spines golden. Archibald finds himself smiling, and when he turns through the hallways to the door that leads to Milliways, he is smiling still.
