Thanksgiving is fast approaching and Martha Kent has decided that they should host a dinner for their friends. This doesn't please Clark. He'd rather it just be the two of them - a nice quiet holiday, the first one without his Dad. But like he'll say no to his mother

After snagging some real, proper tea from Bar (she never thought she'd miss it til it was near-impossible to get in some times and places), she settles into one of the big, fluffy chairs nearby, and tries not to look as though she's staring at the rather hot guy with the notebook. She's not here to flirt with the locals.
Oh, all right, maybe a little.
"Hello," she says, flashing a brief little smile to her neighbor on the sofa.

"Who, me?" Rose shakes her head and laughs.
"No, I'm just a... well, I was a shopgirl, and now I'm sort of taking some time to travel, see the world, see the end of the universe, that sort of thing. The Doctor's just a friend that I travel with. He's not that kind of doctor."

"I mean, this place, it's pretty weird, yeah? You meet all kinds here, and it's all sort of surreal. But this place? Really sort of normal compared to... well, other places."
Reply
"I might be more open minded than you think."
Reply
"You didn't blink at the idea of different Earths, which I think is way stranger than just different planets. Which, thinking about it, I can't really decide if Arcateen 5 was better than Raxacoricofallapatorius. The first one had these... they called themselves Butterfly People, or I guess that's how it translated, obviously I don't speak Butterfly or whatever.. but the second one's just so much more fun to say, and they've got dark red oceans. Really impressive. And you're not allowed to think I've gone mad, it's only fair when I gave you the benefit of the doubt about your name."

"So you must have a spaceship or something, right?" And really, who has a spaceship?

She looks faintly apologetic.
"If it were I'd invite you for a trip, but I haven't had such luck with that. I may have been officially forbidden to invite anyone new."

So forgive him for just sort of staring at Rose for a minute.
"That's, um, okay. You've really been to other planets?"
Reply
"Other times than my own, too. I'm not sure which is weirder. They're both sort of equally strange at first, and then after a while it gets almost normal. Like this place does once you've been a few times."
Reply
"Wouldn't different planets be weirder? I mean, different times, it's still Earth. You're still dealing with people. Other planets, well, they have aliens, right? That's got to be really weird."
Reply
"Some of them, yeah. I guess butterfly people are a little weird, with all the extra..." Rose makes a sort of flailing motion to indicate a number of limbs. "And the talking cats, those weren't nice. But some of them are just basically people. You wouldn't even know the difference just to talk to one."
Rose can't help but smile a little to herself, just at the irony of talking to someone named Clark Kent about this sort of thing.

"There are species out there that look just like humans?" He really wants to ask how many, what were they called, and more importantly, are there any left? But he can't.
"And they're... friendly?" That question at least should be safe.
Reply
"I'm sorry... really, I'm not laughing at you at all, it's just..."
She takes a breath, manages to contain her amusement enough to answer him seriously.
"You wouldn't ask that if you knew at least one in particular alien that I know. I won't say they're all friendly? But there's one that I'd call my very best friend in the entire universe."
Reply
"Your best friend is an alien?" Now, where has he heard that before?
And then there's a brief hesitation before he asks, "Are they here?"
Reply
"Come on," she says decisively, fairly bouncing out of her chair, tea forgotten. "I'll introduce you."
