The man at the bar with a news magazine and a cup of coffee grins to himself at the Brigadier's comment. He's still grinning when the Brigadier comes level with the bar. He nods politely in his direction. "Morning."

"Hm? Oh, morning," says the Brigadier, glancing at the other fellow. "Seems the time between here and home's off again. I suppose I should've expected it, really."

"So it is," the Brigadier says. "And if it's anything like its usual self, the door won't open for me for a good fifteen minutes at the very least, by which time I'll probably have forgotten what I'd been in the middle of saying."

He'd roll his eyes if he were someone else; this is as close as he gets to good-natured grumbling.

"Might as well make the most of it in the meantime, I suppose. It's no good bothering the door again so soon."
